Book #2

There was a tie between "Hunger Games" and "The Help".

Do we want to have a vote off over the weekend that ends Sunday?

Re: Book #2

  • Ha I was wondering if that would happen!  We could do another poll I suppose and end it on Sunday, that's probably the easiest way to figure it out.
  • I think doing another poll with just those is good, but I think whichever book loses we should do next month since it was a tie.

I hadn't thought about this. I am assuming just the first one......

  • Just a heads up, once you read the first HG book you are going to want to read the others immediately, if not sooner.  So maybe either plan on doing the whole series in a month, or plan on each book per month if that wins.  Once I finished book 1, I could not get my hands on book 2 soon enough.
    imageimage
  • How many are in the series? If HG wins maybe we could cut down the time to finishing the first book in 3 weeks and the second book in 3 weeks or something like that.... not sure....

I believe there are 3 books. Is that too many to try and read in one month?

I agree. I am a huge reader and don't know if I would be able to read 3 books in one month.

  • I agree with Shan that once you start you can't stop, I read the 3 books in about a week or so, but that was also around Thanksgiving so I had a little extra time.  It's hard to figure that one out where we all read at different speeds and such!
  • let's let everyone vote and then go from there. does everyone agree?

This.  I actualyl started HG right after Water for Elephants anyway and I downloaded the whole series onto my nook.  I haven't been able to put it down and I'm only on book 2!

<div>Unfortunately, I read the first two early enough that I had to WAIT for Mockingjay to come out! When I got it, I took it to a coffee shop and read the whole thing in one sitting.</div><div>

You definitely will want to read the second and third books as soon as you finish the first.  But I also agree that it's going to be hard to read (or re-read) three books in one month. Except for me... I'm having surgery and won't be able to do anything at all for 2 weeks... I definitely think if HG wins we should do those three books in a row.  I think 3 weeks will be enough time to read each one because seriously, you can't put them down!

  • I think the point I was trying to make is that the HG books are so good that you will want to read them asap, and probably will not take as long to read as other books given that they are meant for a younger audience.  Maybe not all 3 in one month, but I bet most people would get pretty close.  I'm a slow reader and I did about one per week.

Just food for thought.  I will take this opportunity to catch up on some other books since I have already read the HG series and The Help.

  • Yeah HG are a very quick read. Like odds are you'll read the 1st book in a day. I read the whole series in a week. I was on vacation though.

I think most people could do all 3 in a month, though if it makes people nervous, just do 1.
