New Knottie - Eden Resort in Lancaster

Hi knotties! I am new to the site and I love reading all of your ideas!

I am thinking of having my wedding  the Eden Resort in Lancaster and was wondering if anyone out there is having their wedding their or did have their wedding there. I would love to hear some reviews about the food. We are trying to figure out what type of food to have without blowing our budget.

Not that what I'm about to say is a deal breaker, but I have been there for a few receptions, and it's lovely, however the floor is very uneven. clumsy dancers beware. that was the only thing I didn't like about it. Good luck!

I completely agree about the floor comment.  The floor is beautiful but I went to the Eden for a business lunch recently and I was astonished the floor was essentially cobblestone.  I was terrified I was going to drop my food from the buffet to the table.   They do win awards for their Sunday brunch and I have friends the confirm their brunch is out of this world.  It IS very beautiful.  It does lack some privacy though as it is in the center of the hotel and everyone can see the ballroom from their room.

I have wanted to have my wedding there for yeeeeeeeaaaarrrrrssss (have you ever seen Bridal Wars?  Kinda like that).  Unfortunately, the way they set up the food is the reason we couldn't afford it.  They don't do cost-per-person, but instead set a minimum cost to use whichever room you're interested in.  However, they have other rooms aside from the Courtyard which are very pretty and have even floors :)

I also have been to the Eden Resort for a few weddings and the floor is always a problem.  I am always afraid I will slip on the cobblestone.  It unfortunately keeps people from dancing.
In addition, they get ridiculously priced.  My friend had a wedding there and the bar bill at the end of the night was $18,000!

I'm going to disagree with what everyone says. I had both my wedding and my reception in the courtyard and we had no trouble with the floor at all. In fact, it wasn't even an issue. I wore heels and it was fine. It's not a cobblestone floor, its a stone floor that has polyurethane varnish over it. This actually helps with not slipping. None of our guests had a problem either.

We LOVED having our event there. The food was some of the best wedding food I've ever had. The mashed potatoes were to die for!! I had guests raving about how much they enjoyed their meal. We went with the sirloin roast beef and stuffed chicken. They also offer a vegetarian option free of charge so we got vegetable stir fry. Our veggie friends said they were happy with the change from the usual vegetable lasagna they get at most weddings.

Overall...I highly recommend the Eden!! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Also....we had a our wedding there on a Sunday night so we got a 25% discount. We actually found it to be one of the most affordable options for what we were looking for. The minimum food cost is much cheaper on Sunday. We just had to spend at least 7,000 to use the courtyard. No big deal! We had a budget of 12k. We got the cheapest open bar and the cheapest food options. It is set up as price per person, but they just want to make sure you have a minimum amount. They don't want people reserving the room that only have like 20 people. This is standard for hotel venues.

As I live in the Philly area.....venues here were more than twice the cost of the Eden. When we expanded our venue area to Lancaster county....we were relived at the price dip. We couldn't believe all that we got for the cost. I know I sound like an ad, but after being unable to afford most large hotel venues, we lucked out with this!

Our guests all stayed in the hotel as did we. Lots of our friends spent the day of the wedding swimming in the hotel pools. From what I understand, they're adding a waterslide next year. Because we rented the courtyard, they gave use the use of Arthur's Restaurant for the after party free of charge. We were at the bar at Arthur;s until 3 am!

Thanks for all the information! We actually went and checked it out today... and I love it! We are going to do a Friday to save money, and I thought the pricing was very fair for what you get!
