Since I have realized that there are so many other Harry Potter fans on this board, and since I just love talking about it so much...
Who is your favorite character and why?
I'll start. My favorite character, no question, is Harry himself. I indentify with him a lot, and have therefore been irrationally and completely in love with him since I was 15.
(Note: when I first typed this, I wrote a full, long paragraph about why I love Harry so much. Then I realized how crazy it all sounded, and took it out.)
Re: Another Harry Thread -- May Contain Spoilers
I love all of the characters though. Its really hard to pick a favorite.
Malfoy is interesting. I appreciate him for the reasons you listed, Beth. He's very well developed.
[QUOTE]I agree with you Elle. I relate with Harry the most. He's my favorite. Although, I think Hermione is hilarious.

Rowling said in an interview that, whenever she had something important to tell the readers, she would have either Dumbledore or Hermione say it. I heart them both.
[QUOTE]I love Neville's character too. A lot of people miss his importance.

I just love the plot line with Neville and the prophecy. All of that stuff about how it could have been him... and he proves in the end that he would have lived up to it just like Harry did. Oh, my heart.
Motolyn's House Remodel Blog Starting anew Nov. 2012.
I also adore Hermione. I think I probably relate to her the most, but Ron's still my fave... maybe there's a reason for that...
That's hard... I would have to say Draco and Ron are my favorites.
Ron is almost a caricature to me. He's so emotionally larger than life. He reminds a lot of my brother actually. I love him.
And Noelle, I love McGonagall, too. The moments where she loses her perfectly cool strict teacher facade are some of my favorite moments in the entire series.
[QUOTE]Of the main characters, Hermione is my favorite. I guess I identify with her the most. Of side characters, I love McGonagal. She's strict, but fair. And pretty badass when it comes to magic. (I want to be able to transfigure myself!)

Totally agree! Love Hermione, b/c I'm a nerd, and love McGonagall b/c she always does the right thing, but is still so lovable and badass.
Somebody once said, it's the soul that matters. Baby who can really tell, when two hearts belong so well?
Tale as Old as Time (Updated 11/26)
(I can never decide which book is my favorite, but that's a thread for another day).
I also like Fred and George Weasley because they're just so much fun.
I haz a planning bio

Hahaha love it!

I love Mrs Wesley! I love how she just took Harry in as a son, no questions asked. She tried to give Harry the family he never had and cared about his well being through out the series. I think the whole Wesley family showed how you don't need money to have a loving family. Love is greater than money - love that theme and that's exactly what Harry needed in his life. Honestly, I cried when they had the 17th Bday party for him. And her "Not my daughter you B!TCH" line... that solidified it for me!

Hermione kinda bugs me, but she really is a lot like me. So I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing...

If that part is left out of the final movie next year, I will never forgive WB. I agre. That was amazing.
I loved when Mrs. Weasley gave Fabian's watch to Harry. *sob*

[QUOTE]This is a really hard question. My favorite is Dumbledore, I think. There's just so much more to him than meets the eye, and we don't find out until the second-to-last book just how tortured he is. He's a really complex and interesting character.

I'm pretty sure you're referring to the scene with the potion?
But I would argue that we didn't fully understand Dumbledore's pain until J.K. outed him after the release of the 7th book.

Have you listened to the audiobooks of that scene? It's heart-wretching!
Yes I used to commute 2 hours a day so I have listened to all the books 2-3 times along with reading them a few times too. Ok I'm a Harry Potter fantatic!

I would be willing to bet that I have you beat. :)
The number of times I've read each book (except the 7th) is in the double digits. I've only read the 7th 4 times so far, though.
(Wait, why am I bragging about this?)
