Guess nobody

has any ghost stories??? :( I was totally looking forward to reading some of your stories! Anyone??? I'm bored at work, I need some entertainment!

Ok I will share mine (I don't know if I believe in ghosts though). This is not a ghost story, but it makes me wonder.

It always seems like I am able to see/predict/smell something that nobody else can.

1. I THINK I can smell dead people (I know it's creepy). But it creeps me out, whenever I walk around in a cemetery, I smell something weird. The same thing happened when we were at Mount Veron when I was 11 and I was overwhelmed with the nasty smell, later I discovered I was walking through an area where all of the slaves were buried.

2. One Christmas when I was maybe 17, I suddenly demanded that everybody get a picture with my grandfather. Demanded us to have a family picture, especially with him holding his first great grandson. I had no idea where the urge came from. He died two weeks later.

3. A few years ago FI was having problems with his Chevy Blazer and was going to take it to a shop. He told me to meet him at the shop after I finished my homework. I demanded him to wait for me. We got into a fight and I told him that something did not feel right and that I couldn't just let him go on his own. He finally agreed. We left, I was following him in my car when he was just getting onto the highway, his U shaft broke off and lots of sparks were flying from the bottom of his car and he was stalled. I freaked out and immediately got him to get in my car and moved out of the way. There were so many cars and he could have easily gotten hit.

4. I was staying with my grandfather (same one from #2) one summer when I was maybe 13. I all of sudden smelled a gas leak by his house. He couldn't smell it, but called a gas man to come over to check it out. Even the gas guy couldn't smell anything. I insisted that it was coming from somewhere and that it did not smell right. So they had me track the smell to the side of his house where it smelled like propane was spewing out of the pipe. Neither of them could smell it until the gas man tested it and he was in shock. There was actually a leak and he said if I didn't smell it, the house would have blew up.

Now you all are probably scared of me? I promise I'm normal otherwise! Well except for being deaf :)

  • My air condintioner right after my grandma died went up to 88 degrees be itself. The medium later told me that 88 is angelic number and it was a way for my grandma to tell me she was with me.

Oh I have one more! I'm probably going to end up being the only one to post in this thread haha.

My friend committed suicide when he was a senior in high school. He dove off a bridge and hit his head on the road 50 feet below. He was also deaf.

One day about a year later, a different friend's mother's friend who was maybe 35 had never visited the school nor the area before. She was also deaf. She had no idea what happened either. They drove across the bridge where my friend dove off from. The friend all of sudden told the driver to stop the car because she felt something weird. She got out of the car and walked to the side of the bridge and looked down the bridge and saw what she described to be our friend who died looking up at her and signing "help me please!". She freaked out and left.

This story still creeps me out, this woman had no idea what happened nor what our friend looked like, yet she still described him exactly right and saw him in the exact area where he had died.

Omg that's sooo creepy ! I don't have any ghost stories but I've debating on signing up the waiting list for long Island medium. Do you think the show is real?
  • Those are some crazy stories! I've heard that if one of your senses is hindered, it makes the others stronger. So since being deaf, it makes your other senses extra sensitive.

About a month ago, FI's daughter woke up and came in our room to sleep with us. She woke up in the middle of the night hysterical. We thought it was just a bad dream or she was in the middle of a dream. She was fully awake and started screaming "There's a man!" "No No No" and was frgihtened for her life. She did this for about 3 hours and I have never heard or seen her this scared and upset. She was shaking and was fully awake. I've heard that children and pets are able to see "ghosts" I really have no idea how else to describe what she was seeing.

  • Oh I have one. My fi's friend was murdered in an apartment. Coincidently my friend moved into the apartment with her sister and daughter. I received a text from friends mom tellingtiny friend s 3 year old girl was having issues. I can't remember the details is was about it because 3 years ago. An iccident happened one night and the little girl was terrified of shadows and didn't want to be in the house anymore. My friends mom was asking me about his personality and it kinda gave me the creeps. I think they did a "cleanse" on the house and didn't have any issues since. Weird.

  • So all of these stories are my dad's, apparently he's the only one who has weird stuff happen to him.

#1 My dad used to see the grim reaper in his house growing up. His bedroom used to be at the end of the hallway upstairs and he used to sit at the foot of his bed and peek out into the hallway and watch him pace back and forth in the hall. He never went into the rooms, just walked back and forth.

#2 In the same house, but a different bedroom (I think my dad moved into this room after a while), my dad used to wake up in the middle of the night and see these two people standing at the foot of his bed just staring at him. He said it happened quite frequently until they put wood paneling up over the wallpaper in the room. Then the people never came back.

#3 My dad used to go hunting in a certain part of the woods with his friends when he was younger. They all split up and hunted alone though. One day he was up in a tree when the whole thing started shaking like crazy. Trunk and everything. He looked around and no other trees were shaking. He never told his friends that, thinking they'd never believe him. A few years later one of his friends told him the exact same story, and they found out that it was the same tree. They haven't been back there to hunt since haha.

#4 My dad's dad died when my dad was in high school. One night my grandma woke up in the middle of the night and swore she could hear someone cooking downstairs. She said she smelled bacon and eggs but when she went down the stairs, no one was there.

#5 My dad's cousin was a trouble maker in high school, always in trouble and skipping school. She had snuck out of my grandma's house one night (she lived with my dad and grandma for a while), and when she came back home in the middle of the night, she snuck up the stairs and felt someone grab her arm and yank her, like she was caught in the act of sneaking back into the house.

#6 My dad and all his friends in high school knew someone who owned a house that was up for sale. They decided to throw a party there one night and were scoping the place out, deciding what rooms to use for what, just getting the place ready. My dad said that the front of the house was fine but the kitchen in the back made you feel "weird." There were bedrooms upstairs and there was one in particular that you just didn't even want to be in. They just gave off a weird and creepy vibe. Well they had their party and everything went off without a hitch, but people did comment throughout the night about those couple of rooms.

Years later my dad was reading an article in the Bay City Times (the newspaper from his home town). He found an article written about that very same house. Apparently there was a couple that was interested in buying it and they were doing a walk through. They went up to the weird bedroom upstairs and the woman saw a sick and scary looking little girl just standing in the corner of the room. They obv didn't buy the house.

haha this is probably the longest post EVER!

    Awesome stories!!

I went to a deaf residential school during my high school years and people have always said they see little kids dancing in the auditorium, wearing plaid skirts, knee high socks, kind of like clothes from the 50's.

I had a roommate who was able to hear pretty well at the same school. She says that every night she hears a banging noise in one of the closets and children laughing and talking as if they were playing in the closet.

In the boys' dorm- often the sink water would all of sudden be turned on, sometimes people would turn it off only to have it turn back on.

  • Geez, this is the exact reason that I read this thread during the day and wouldn't even click on the one last night. lol.

My sister moved into an apartment in Seattle, and when she moved in, she plugged in a brand new microwave that she had brought. One night, it started running for no reason...the light went on and started spinning. She turned it off and thought nothing of it. A week later, when she was sleeping, she heard beeping noises and the microwave had been set for a certain amount of time and was running. She was living alone at the time, so it's not like a roommate sleepwalked in or anything.

  • Meki- This doesn't necessarily have to do with ghosts, but your stories made me think of this. I've heard that when someone doesn't have one of their senses, their other senses are often better to sort of 'make up' for their lost sense. Like someone who is blind, might hear things better than someone who has their sight. Do you think there is any truth to that? Like, maybe you've relied on your sense of smell more than someone who can hear? Just wondering.. This is all really interesting to me.

Yeah I think I agree with this. Deaf people's senses are heightened. I like to think of this in this way:

    Hearing People
    20% See
    20% Smell
    20% Touch
    20% Taste
    20% Hear

    Deaf People
    25% See
    25% Smell
    25% Touch
    25% Taste

I have no idea if this is a scientific fact, but this is the way I think it's like compared to hearing people. Often deaf people are more sensitive to stronger odors or visual noises compared to hearing people for obvious reasons.

Here is a story that gives me chills every time I hear it. A lady I work with's (L) mother grew up in the 1940's out on a farm. She had an older brother who was engaged, an older sister, and a younger sister. Getting to go swimming down in the creek was a big treat. One day, the brother took his fiance and three sisters swimming. Some people on the bank of the creek were hollering at them to try and get their attention to tell them that a barge had come up the creek and dug a huge trench. But I guess they ignored or couldn't hear the warnings. They were all walking holding hands when they fell into the trench. The only one who knew how to swim was the brother. He grabbed the two girls whose hands he was holding (his fiance and one of his sisters; L's mom) and pulled them to safety. He went back for the other two sisters, but they had already sunk deep down into the trench. When they found their bodies, they were all three hugging one another.

Decades later L's sister (W) was having a dream that she was hearing someone banging on the back door. She could tell that it was a man, and two girls. The man was wearing a vest and one of the girls was wearing a burgundy dress and bright red lipstick. The people were banging on the door saying, "Wake up! Wake up" but she just ignored it and kept sleeping. A ltitle while later that night, she got a phone call to say that the house in the country (where L and W's mom grew up) was on fire. From the house, they were able to salvage a trunk that had been locked away in the attic. In the trunk they found a vest that belonged to the brother and a burgundy dress that belonged to one of the sister's. Creepy, right!?

  • This is such a fun thread! Mekiakoo, I tried clicking on the link you posted last name but it didn't work on my comp :( I was actually going to ask you the same question that mbody did about your other senses being heightened. Very interesting!!

I personally have not had any ghostly encounters, but I definitely am a believer! My two stories are from my friends.

    1. My college roommate's grandmother passed away and she had lived with her and her family for a long time. After she passed away, my friend and her mom heard Brahm's lullaby playing throughout the house. They couldn't figure out where it was coming from and they didn't have anything in the house that played it.

    2. One of my BMs grew up in Ireland. She was visiting an old castle with her family and she and her sister swear they saw two ghosts dressed in old fashioned clothing.

On a side note, does anyone watch A Haunting or The Haunted? FI and I love those shows, plus I started watching My Ghost Story and Celebrity Ghost Stories whenever they're on. Good scary stuff!

  • Nothing too fun, but I think we may have a ghost in our apartment or complex. My dog consistently looks up in the same corner where the wall meets the ceiling and just stare there. Nothing is even near that corner because it's above the stairs. No shadows hit it and the TV doesn't cast any light on it. When he's looking at the corner, he won't look at you no matter how long or loud you call his name. Creepy.

I love these kind of stories! I definitely believe in spirits, and I am pretty sure my parent's house is haunted - but I feel like it's friendly ghosts haha

    1. My younger sister was home alone one day. She was upstairs with our dog, and he went to the top of the stairs and was just staring down growling. She heard voices downstairs so she figured someone must have come home. She tried to get the dog to go down with her but he wouldn't. When she got downstairs the voices stopped. She checked and the TV was off, no radio, etc.

    2. I was sitting in the living room with a friend, the TV remotes were on the other couch no where near us and we were just chatting. Suddenly, the TV Turned on by itself

    3. My parents converted an old workshop into a cabin for my older sister and I (they moved to their current, smaller house when we graduated so there weren't enough bedrooms for when we visited). One morning at around 6:00am I woke up to the sound of hammering. The cabin used to be a wood shop/workshop for the man who built the house, who passed away years ago. Later that day, my sister mentioned it to me and said she heard it from her room as well.

    4. My mom lost her mother when she was 21 to cancer. When she was engaged to my dad she was really missing her mom. She prayed to her asking for a sign - but she wanted a very clear, specific sign so she asked for her mom to put a penny somewhere it shouldn't be, and when she found it she'd know she was with her. The next day, she felt an urge to put on a pair of pants she hadn't worn for a while. They had a tiny little pocket with a zipper, only big enough for a lipstick, which she had never used. She felt the urge to put her finger in there, and she found a penny. Now whenever she finds a penny (I do this too) she knows it's her mom saying hello

    5. My mom's best friend (L) lost a daughter (J) in a car accident. A friend of J's called one day while my mom was there and asked if she could use one of J's necklaces as her "something borrowed" on her wedding day. L couldn't find it and was feeling upset, so my mom grabbed her hands and prayed to J to help them find it. The next day, another friend of J's called, said she found a necklace and thought it was hers, and asked if L wanted it. It was the necklace she had been looking for

    6. My mom works at a very old First Nations school, and everyone believes that it is haunted. My mom refuses to work there alone on evenings/weekends (as do most of the staff). They will hear footsteps in the hall, things move around on their own, lights turn on and off, etc.

  • Oh I love ghost stories.

For me, I was a baby and my mom was with bio dad. They moved into my Great Uncle's house as there was a basement apartment. From both, I have heard how the shower would turn on by itself. My fave is that bio dad put me down for a nap and put on rock music. He was about the step out of the room when the radio started changing stations (a turn dial radio) and went to classical music.

In this same house, I was older, in my late teens early 20's for a 4th of July party. All the bathrooms were occupied except the upstairs one. So I went upstairs alone. As I was climbing the stairs, one of the closed doors slowly opened like someone was peeking out. I looked at it and said "Stop it!" and the door slammed shut. I almost peed myself there. Lol.

My mom has had dreams where dead people have come back to talk to her. The most famous one was my (step)dad's parents. We never knew them as they both passed when dad was younger. In this dream they told my mom things she would never have known and was able to describe them to a T. We only had 1 picture of each and they were portrait drawings.
