PSA: Beware of Eva's Bridal

Do NOTgo to Eva's Bridal in Oak Lawn.  I went there a couple of weeks ago and tried on dresses.  There were two that I loved, but couldn't make a decision. They put both style numbers in my file for reference.  I called yesterday to make an appointment to try on one of the dresses again.  When I arrived today, my consultant continued to ask me what the dress looked like even though she had the style number which worried me.  After explaining to her what it looked like, she continued looking for it through their crowded racks.  More than 30 minutes into my appointment, she still had not located the dress.  I was looking, my guests were looking, and the consultant continued to check the same rack she had already checked 2-3 other times as if it was going to magically appear there.  Finally, another associate claimed "everyone" was looking for the dress.  My mother asked if the dress was maybe not in the store and the sales associate told her that was "impossible."  The searched continued, and an hour into my appointment, without an apology or explanation, I told them I was leaving.  Then they decided to tell me that the dress may have been sent to a bridal show they were participating in that day, but still they were not sure.  Again, still no apology.  I again told them I was leaving and the consultatnt asked if I would like to schedule appointment.  I said "nope." and finally she replied with "I'm sorry," and allowed me to walk out of the store.  Instead of apologizing and offering to call me when they located the dress or at least offering my party some water while we waited, they only told us that they were "looking for the dress."  Although I loved the dress and would likely have purchased it today, I will NEVER go back there.  If they can't keep track of a sample dress, how I can I trust them to successfully deliver my wedding dress?  I am VERY disappointed and now I have to scour the internet looking for the dress because their web site does not list dresses they carry, only a long list of designers.  Brides, please beware of Eva's Bridal in Oak Lawn!

Re: PSA: Beware of Eva's Bridal

  • That's too bad. I had a great experience when I bought my dress there. Additionally, when they had a fire and were in their temporary location, they went above and beyond to answer my questions about the status of my dress.

BTW, most bridal stores don't list the specific dresses that they carry. I also noticed when I was looking that a lot of dresses don't have actual designer labels in them either.
  • I had a horrible experience there myself. I went in to find a dres and was told REPEATEDLY that if I didnt buy it THEN, I would not get a discount. I felt badgered to no end about having to buy it that day. I did not cave as it was a big decision. I don't like feeling that kinda pressure. I need time especially since it was my first day shopping. I went back the next morning, and sure enough no discount (200.00 difference) was going tobe given me. I get they "warned me" but seriously, I went there less than 12 hours later, and no discount can be given to me...they were extremely rude about it, too.. Why on earth would I be willing to pay for a dress when I know darn well that they could afford to give it to me 200 cheaper the day before. Ha ha on them. i found the dress elsewhere and they are out the sale

  • Wow, that's insane. I didn't go there when looking for my dress but in my search for boutiques, Eva's didn't get many good reviews...and now I see why! If you're looking for a store, I'd highly recommend Bella Bianca Bridal Couture in Lombard. I purchased my dress from there and had a wonderful experience! Plus they have lots of designers and dresses so you might find the one you liked at Eva's there.

  • I bought my dress at Eva's in Tinley Park (the temporary location after the fire) and had a positive experience.  Had the dress I wanted at a reasonable price.  Yes, the racks of dresses were disorganized and the salon a bit run-down...I had hoped they had fixed that by now, but evidently not!

Regarding the discount for the first time you visit, that's policy at a lot of salons.  I would say more than half of the ones I went to tried to pressure you to buy with that.  One agreed to let me come back before the end of the day, but otherwise no budging.
