Honoring my mom at the ceremony

My mom is my best friend. Since my dad gets to walk me down the isle, and have a dad/daughter dance, I really want to honor my mom somehow at the ceremony. Any ideas?

Re: Honoring my mom at the ceremony

  • Your mom could walk you down the aisle too and you could do a mother daughter dance. If you did a unity ceremony the moms usually light the candles. Also sometimes people have the moms walked down the aisle by the ushers and seated before the processional starts.

(I'm speaking as a mom, and how I felt being an MOB)

My daughter's wedding day was a big deal and an emotional day for me too, so I don't think I could have handled being any more honored than to just be the proud, happy MOB.  I had the seat of honor on the front aisle seat, had my hands full being the "hostess" who saw to the details and the guests, and was content just to see her so happy on her wedding day.

Plus, I got all the compliments on the beautiful bride, and how the wedding turned out.  I didn't want to be the center of attention for "special honors", toasts, or presentations.  We also had a mother/daughter dance later in the evening,

The only other gift I could have asked for was to slow down time, so I could have relaxed and enjoyed it more!

But if you need actual suggestions, I think just stopping on your way down the aisle to give your mom a quick hug and kiss, make a special toast of thanks, or present her with a memory albumn after the wedding would be nice.
  • I like the idea of stopping to give mom a hug and kiss. Thanks for the suggestion, catwoman!

I've heard of setting a rose looser in your boquet and giving it to your dad as he gives you away, so he can present it to your mom.
  • Thanks for all the great ideas. =) I will definitely stop to hug and kiss her.  I might give her a piece of my bouquet also. I cant wait. Thanks!
