Inexpensive Alterations

I don't need anything exciting. I literally just need it taken in here and there. And these people want to charge like $500 with a deposit. I really don't want to pay any deposit on something that simple. It doesn't need a hem, mainly just a nip and a tuck from my hips to my chest area.

Can I get a local dry cleaner to do something like that? I would LIKE someone that does wedding dresses. But not for anything over $100. Anything else seems silly.. measure me once and do it ya know?

Anyone know of anyone in the Portland area that can do that for less?

I would start with a local dry cleaner if you only want to pay $100.

You really get what you pay for with alterations - if you need it fixed in the hips and chest, other things might need fixed as well to make it look right.

Ditto beth. "a little bit of taking in" is not such a small undertaking for some wedding dresses. If it's a really simple dress it might be ok, but the heavier and thicker your fabric, the more intricate your detailing, the more expensive it's going to be.

I know of a really great person in the area. She charges less than the bridal shops and has more than 40 years of experience. Lots of it with wedding dresses. PM me and I will send you her contact information.
