Invitations

So, I have all of the big stuff done for my wedding now and I am really just working on the small stuff. BUT  need to figure out invitations next... I really have no idea where to start or go. Invites for me are the least thing I am excited about. I have ZERO desire to make them myself.. kudos to all of you who are making your own, i just don't have the time... lol.

So where did you guys go for invitations?

I was pretty much in the same boat as you when it came to invites. ZERO interest. At all. I am not crafty whatsoever, so making them was out of the question. A friend of mine used an Etsy seller and raved about her, so thats what I ended up doing. I actually just got them in the mail on Saturday and they turned out great. The lady's name is Beth Cote. You can check out her store on Etsy, but honestly, she can make whatever you want. She just emailed me a ton of pictures and I picked out the style I wanted, the colors I wanted, and we went from there. Good luck!

Thanks! I will definitely look her up! I am glad there are other people out there like me :) i think i would rather stick a pen in my head than make my own invites. lol

i used vistaprint. i uploaded my own design, but they have a bunch to choose from and all you have to do is change the text. it's a great money saver too.

We went with an etsy person too...Ruff House Art.

    http://www.etsy.com/shop/ruffhouseart?section_id=6250329

After shopping around, we realized DIYing wouldn't look the way we wanted it to unless we spent a lot of time and effort and the premade options on vistaprint or kinkos were really not our style, so we decided to go with Jill because she was offering beautiful invites for a good price.  Ours included the invite, the response card, an info card, and the envelope...$3.50 per set plus shipping.  Once we finalized the order, they arrived in a week and a half.  We've gotten great feedback on them so far.

Regardless of what you end up doing, I would recommend thinking about postage.  We saved money by using a postcard for the response card and our invites just used one stamp. If you add in things like ribbon, extra paper, etc., the postage is going to go up.

I don't know about you, but we are really starting to be thankful for the little ways we can save money.

We used www.minted.com for our invites and www.weddingpaperdivas.com for our STDs.  Both companies were amazing to work with, we could customize their pre-made designs and they are affordable.  I'd highly recommend them both!

Wow, I just clicked on the link for www.minted.com and I could not disagree more with the whole "affordable" comment. However, I will agree that weddingpaperdivas.com is do-able.

Affordable is subjective I suppose - we paid about $2.40 per invite, which I think is affordable.

We had someone on etsy design them and send them to us and then had them printed/cut them ourselves...

When you say you don't want to make them I'm not sure if that means design them or physically put them together...but ours look AWESOME (if I do say so myself) and we are doing them for under $1 each.

I did Kim Jakcson through MiTAGS.  She custom designed ours for a really reasonable price and totally took my non-creative vision somewhere.  :)

I recommend just going to a real invitations person.  We used Kristen at Poeme and she had great ideas and it made it so much easier for us - we are not crafty nor do we have a good sense of design.

I really liked Land of Oz (over in Cheviot).  The invitations were perfect and the people were very nice/helpful.  Also, we were on a tight budget, so going with Land of Oz was a huge help.

We did postcards through Vistaprint (to save on postage-- SO glad we did that)

All my stuff is in my bio (LIS).  GL!
