ok so thats what I was going to do but I was going to get the company to do it for me and set it up and everything EXCEPT when I just got the quote, she said it would be $959.00 so it might now be a DIY thing or just go with something cheaper, I didn't want to spend that much money on candy lol and she said it was 75 lbs total and it was for 170 people and they would get 1/4 lb per person, but who is going to sit there and measure? I could just see people being pigs and filling the bags to the top and not being able to close them and then we wouldn't have enough. :/

I am doing a candy buffet. I got glassware for it from Crate & Barrell for $100, and a lot of the candy will be handmade. You can make it as pricey or as cheap as you want.

My friend just had her wedding last weekend and did a candy bar.  She only had like 5 different types of candy all in her color (green).  I don't think it was too expensive to do.  She just bought or borrowed different sized vases or jars and had green cellophane bags for the guest to use.  It went over pretty good.  I don't think there was any candy left.

I'm doing a candy bar and I will have 18 different types of candy. I spent $550 on 120 pounds of candy which I got from candywarehouse.com and I spent about $150 on vases. I got all of my vases from Michaels, TJ Maxx, Marsahlls, and Ross.

i think all in all our buffet costs less than $200. for 160 people. with i do believe like 12 different kinds of candy. we got our candy from sams club, and a little bit from walmart. all the glassware came from garage sales, or the dollar tree. i think i splurged and bought a $12 apothacary jar from another knottie. you can find good deals if you know where to look :)

I spent about $450 on 90lbs of candy and had 10 different kinds. I got my candy from candywarehouse.com. I borrowed 2 candy jars from a friend and bought the rest from walmart. The most expensive cost me $9.99. The venue waited until after the cake was cut and served to set it out so it wouldn't be gone in 10min. My guests loved it

I can't really help with the planning of the candy buffet costsr.  However, I went to a wedding a month later with a varied awesome candy bar.  What all the (sporty) guys were raving about was 1980's and 1990s baseball cards which were on the table with the candy, which are apparently quite inexpensive but the guys were sooo excited about them (I liked them too).  I just thought I'd suggest it because it seemed like a pretty unique idea.
Also, not sure if this is typical for a candy bar but II have noticed people tend to  like cotton candy so that might be something unique and fun.

We did a candy buffet but this was one area where I knew that I could save a ton of money if I did a lot of the stuff myself and I did.  I bought certain items (like M&Ms, Jelly Bellies, and such) that I couldn't duplicate.  But I made things like chocolate pretzel rods, and other items like clod hoppers, and then we also made approx 6 different types of cookies (we had a cookie bar as well) which included Scottish Shortbread, Chocolate Chip, Oreo, Oatmeal and I think 2 others.

I made the packaging myself out of little brown paper bags and then I gathered up old glass jars and things that I found at garage sales and at our grandparents places.

It turned out awesome and only cost me roughly $200 to do.

you can make a very nice candy buffet with bulk candies.
    my favorite is groovycandies.com
they have every color to match your wedding colors.
Use lots of different sizes of containers, and put them on different levels.
Provide small chinese food boxes to pack up the candies for the guests to take home.
I work at Party City and I hlep ppl make candy buffets all the time.
I know it wont cost near $600.
See if the hall or caterer has the glass containters that you can fill.
Use nice props on the table as well.
Most party city stores will also be able to print custom lables for you telling guests the type of candy, and labels for the boxes for take home.
I love candy buffets for weddings.
    Kids love it too.
The site I gave has all the great retro candy as well.
If you want to get it at wholesale contact me.

Would you do a candy buffet and wedding favors or would the candy be the take home gift?
