Florist Recommendations

I searched through the postings and found a lot of great recommendations for DJs, photographers, and officiants, but I didn't see a lot about florists.

I'm getting married at the Grandview in Poughkeepsie, so I'm looking for florists who are located near Poughkeepsie or do weddings in that area.

I'd ideally like to find a florist that is interested in focusing on local/seasonal flowers and has eco-friendly options, so if you have any recommendations along those lines it would be extra appreciated.

TIA!

I got married at the grand and used Lucille from Lucille Floral Designs in Fishkill.  She is/was the house florist for the Grand and she came highly recommended.  Her prices were fabulous and I couldn't have been happier with what she did for us.

I didn't end up using Lucille, but we met with her and she was great! We used Flowers by JoAnn out of Washingtonville, and she was wonderful to work with! Our reception was at the Grandview, so I know she travels up there. Not sure about specific eco-friendly options, but she was very flexible and willing to work with us.

So, she's not a traditional florist, but I went with her because she is a nursery, so she uses a lot of the flowers she grows herself and I really liked the idea of staying local. It's Country Flowers in Napanoch/Ellenville (not super close to Po-town, but not terrible either). The proprieter is Robin Anderson. She grows flowers specifically for your wedding (or at least tries to). They are only open for the season, but she will meet with you off-season. Still,  I would suggest calling during the season if you can. I haven't seen a mock up of my center pieces yet, but will do so soon and can tell you how it is. Robin is super sweet. (845) 647-5256.

There is a place in newburgh (I think) that does green flowers. I can't remember the name right now, but I think I must have gotten their name either from the knot directory, or maybe Hudson Valley magazine's wedding edition. I would have contacted them, but they do charge for a consultation.

You might think about going to your local nursery and asking if they would do wedding flowers. The prices might be quite good and you'd be staying local!

I got married at the grandview too! I used The Annex, in Pawling, NY. It's run by an older couple and they are super nice and worked very well with my tiny budget. My sister also used them for her wedding and they did an amazing job. I highly recommend them!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!  I am checking them all out.

In case anyone else is interested in eco-friendly and/or local flowers, someone else recommended seedtofruit.net in Beacon NY.

We used Dean at Forever in Bloom (http://www.foreverinbloomonline.com/). He's really nice, very knowledgeable, and could definitely work with you on giving you whatever you want (seasonal/Green wise). Definitely give him a call.
