Show me your luggage!!

I'm registered at BB&B and JCPenney and I feel like the luggage choices arn't great. Though there are lots to choose from I'm either finding one's with majority negative reviews, no reviews at all, or the most expensive one's have great reviews (& we don't feel comfortable putting those on the registry... our motto is: if we wouldn't pay that much for it ourselves then we shouldn't ask other's to)

So if you got your luggage at BB&B or JCPenney and you love it please let me know (Brand, etc? Or link to the site!!). Right now I have some moderate priced one's on there, but there are no reviews and I don't really feel comfortable with that.

Thanks! Hope this threads help other people having this issue

Re: Show me your luggage!!

  • I felt the same way when I was registering.  If anyone found nice luggage at BB&B or Macys, I'd be interested to hear.  Thanks!

  • I wouldn't limit yourself to BBB/JCP just because you're already registered there.  Good luggage is really useful, and you'll have it for years.  Maybe see if you can find what you really want at amazon.com and tell a key friend or family member that you're hoping for it.  Or, just add amazon as a registry and don't feel weird about adding another registry.  When people see that you've only registered for luggage there, they will understand that you were shopping around for what you really wanted.

  • You know who has good luggage- Marshall's! They have a huge selection and it's extremely marked down from retail price.

I went with the lightweight Samsonite Lift line on Macy's. I've had a set of Samsonite luggage since 2001 and with all of the traveling (and moving) in the ensuing years of college, working, and professional school, they've really taken a beating but are still usable. They're very heavy and the wheels and handles are worn though which is why it would be nice to have an updated set. Tumi also makes some great pieces (including this awesome business carry-on that I really want) but they're even more expensive. The nice thing about Macy's is the luggage keeps going on sale.

I have this set Clicky  (except for I didn't get the tote bag).  I absolutely love it!  SO easy to spot on the ramp.  It is very durable.  I would definately buy jansport luggage again.

ETA: I bought mine off of ebags, I thought they used to sell them at kohls but I'm not sure if they sell that at JCP or BBB...

  • We registered for LLBean luggage, and added it to our Amazon registry... my mom got me one of the rolling duffels for my birthday and they're pretty sturdy and come in a lot of bright colors so they're easy to pick out on a luggage carousel.

Thanks guys! I really dont feel comfortable about adding another registry (I have a 3rd that I didn't mention here because they don't sell luggage)... I feel like 4 registries will look gift grabby when our guest list is only 120. Thanks for all your input...I will look into those if we decide to buy it ourselves or if nobody buys the luggage we *might* decide to put on the registry.

LB&SF- Going to look at those now, Thanks!!

  • LB&SF- They only currently have it in green & pink with the only review being bad... I'm a little scared to use it now. This was the review:

"I received this set as a wedding gift from some dear friends. I was very excited about it, and packed the suitcases straight up for our honeymoon. By the time we had returned from our week-long trip, the cases were dented, and the interior stitching was coming apart. I then took two of the cases on another 3-day trip, and on the last day of the trip, the handle broke completely on the carry-on, while the handle on the large suitcase stalled and refused to come up. I am sincerely hoping I will be able to return these, as they are probably not going to last through another trip. So even though it's such a cute set, don't buy it!"

I more than welcome other suggestions from BB&B and JCPenny! At this point it's looking like we might have to get some at marshall's on our own...but we go on the HM 1 day after the weddding...and we can't afford to buy it before the wedding

  • I have Samsonite (which BBB carries!)  best luggage.  Has gone on three international trips with me since I've had it.  My parents have smaller pieces as well that we use all the time for travel.  Best luggage!
  • i bought a rolling duffle bag at overstock a few years ago. It has held up pretty well.
