Hotel blocks

I know I've seen the discussion on here before but I can't seem to find it.  What is the best way to go about finding a good hotel for a block of rooms?  What questions should I ask?  We need an affordable hotel in Des Moines area or near the airport and want to get a group rate for the rooms.

    In the Seattle Bio in one of the stickied posts, there's an email address for someone with the seattle visitor's bureau. She'll send you a questionaiirre to fill out and then send your information to hotels in the area that you're interested in. They don't cover every hotel so they may not get you the best deal, but it's still pretty good and way easier than going to a bazillion hotel websites/making calls yourself.
