Winterbourne - St. Johns Golf & Country Club - other venues? (long)

Hi ladies,

I am newly engaged, and planning my wedding for April 14, 2012, to be somewhere in North or Central Florida (posted this in Central FL, board as well). At the moment I have 4 scheduled appointments for venues to check out their properties:

1. Dubsdread in Orlando
2. Lakeside Inn in Mt. Dora
3. St. Johns Golf & Country Club in St. Augustine
4. Winterbourne in St. Augustine.

I will have approximately 100 guest, with a small budget of $10k, which does not include my wedding dress, rings, tux, or accessories. I would like to know if anyone has any experience with the above mentioned venues, and if anyone has any suggestions of other venues in the area that are budget friendly, but still very nice.

Thanks so much!

I've been to a wedding at the St. Johns country club and it was kind of small for that many people and no hotels close by for overnight stays.  Also, the Winterbourne inn is in Orange Park not St. Augustine.

We looked to book Winterbourne for our rehearsal dinner (we are getting married next door at Club Continental).  The inside dining area was very pretty, and the ceremony site is of course beautiful with the river in the background.  I think it is an affordable option for a wedding, they will let you provide your own alcohol, etc.

Hilltop is another venue in orange park that would be affordable, but I think Winterbourne is much prettier since it is on the river.

I was married at Sweetwater Branch Inn in Gainesville.  I had about the same budget and guest list as you and the staff there was wonderful.  They have an event coordinator that will also serve as your DOC.  There is a beautiful garden for the ceremony and the reception hall is great with lots of windows.  They also have you provide your own alcohol and recommend ABC liquor who will deliver it for a very small fee (I think it was $15).  They have a "no tipping" policy, which I found amazing since I completely forgot to figure in all the tips for the staff.

If you want the contact info it's in my married bio.  Good luck and happy planning.
