Bad Experience at Darlynn's bridal

For those of you who are still dress shopping, I would recommend skipping Darlynns.  Went there with another knottie today.  Staff was rude and brusque to both of us.  I've had great experiences with other bridal salons in the area so this completely took me by surprise.

    I guess I should have read the online reviews of Darlynns before making the drive over there.

    is this the one off of 74? If it is, I got my prom dress years ago from them and at that time service was amazing, buttttt

    when I went dress shopping with my mom, she wanted to go check it out. No one offered to help, the staff was made up of teenagers that were busy texting. They pointed to a room and said "The wedding dresses are in there", but this was after I had explained the style I was looking for, to which I recieved a side-eye.

    It's rough, but then again, thats assuming we're talking about the same place.

    If you're in the Monroe area. . theres another cute shop off of 601 going towards pageland. Its called Elle's I believe. The lady there was amazingly helpful and full of knowledge!

    Lol, I bought my prom dress there years ago too.

    yes, it's right on 74.  I really don't know why she had such a bad attitude. We didn't waste her time or try on numerous dresses or anything like that.  I didnt see any dresses in the style I like (mermaid) but I forced myself to try on 2 anyway. I didn't have her clip me into them because I could tell immediately they weren't working for me.  So she vented at me and told me that I didnt even give the dresses a chance.

    I told her I preferred the fitted mermaid style but it must not be very popular locally because the style was hard to find. She responded with "almost every dress I have is that style!" and started pointing out A-line dresses that were fitted through the waist...not mermaid. I just smiled and looked at the other bride...and we decided to get out of there asap.

    We told her we had tried on a few dresses at other salons and we both liked one dress over others...and she told us that we shouldnt even be trying on any other dresses if we liked one already.  Surprised

    WOW! That's unbelieveable!!!

    Sorry you had a bad experience =(  One of my best friend's that is getting married soon had a similar bad experience and I know its not fun to feel like that

    Yea that's crazy.  Definitely not the right attitude to sell dresses.

    Sorry to hear that.  However, I had a great experience there and actually got my dress from them.  It was on a Maggie Soterro trunk show day so it was super crazy but Krista (I think one of the store owner's daughters) let me keep trying on dresses until we found "the one."  She was very supportive.

    Once again, I'm sorry you had a bad experience.  Sometimes we just have our "off" days and I'm hoping that's what you experienced. 

    Have you checked out NY Bridal on South Blvd?

    MrsFraser- so far Ive tried on about 15 dresses. I keep comparing everything to the first dress I ever tried on....the only thing that keeps me from committing to that dress...is the fact that I can't find a single salon that carries true mermaid style dresses, which is what I always thought I wanted.  It would be nice to be able to try on that style.  The dress that's the forerunner now is not at all what I pictured myself wearing but I do like it.

    Elizabeth- I have been to nearly every place in Charlotte at this point! :) At some of the places I didn't even find anything to try on, but I did try on 3 dresses at NY Bridal. None really wowed me, but that was one of the first places I went so I still had an unrealistic budget in mind. I may go there one more time but I think I'm going to have to go to Atlanta for more options at this point.

    I may just buy the dress I like and call it day. I really don't like shopping :)

    aww i'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience too!

    i ordered my dress there last month, and worked with Mallorie. She was fantastic! we  spent a couple hours there on a saturday, and returned on a monday for another couple hours before i decided. i hope the service remains good for my upcoming fittings!

    everyone should enjoy their dress shopping- knottie vibes for a positive experience somewhere!! btw, saw you in the new issue of one of the local bridal magazines!

    Sarah-  I'm glad that you had a better experience!  I hope they come through with good service going forward.  She may have been having a bad day when we were there, but no matter how bad my day is going I would never take it out on clients.  I actually did an e-shoot a while back when my personal life was falling apart.  I tried not to let it show :) You just have to be careful of providing good service no matter what when you own a small business.

    -You must have seen our engagement announcement in Carolina Bride :)  I love the staff there, but I dont think I'll be working with them in the future once my contract ends this year.  Advertising is outrageously expensive ($1k-$2k per ad) and I haven't seen a return on the investment at all.  :(

    Maybe we all need to go to Kleinfeld's with you in NYC to find your perfect dress!!!

    Elizabeth--ha!! I love say yes to the dress...i dvr it and watch it all the freaking time! I watched it before I got engaged but not like I do now :) i seriously may go to the one in atlanta! :) im not usually so high-maintenance. just want to get it right since it's a one time thing!
