First time here!

Hi all!

I just got engaged last Tuesday and of course, the planning bug has crept up!

I am a bit overwhelmed with where to start... what do you suggest?  Budget, guest list, location, date???

Also, looking for a beautiful, partially outdoor venue for our wedding, which will most likely be next May.  We really don't want to spend too much money, so something on the inexpensive side would be great.  We live in Studio City but anything between downtown LA and Malibu works for us.  Any suggestions???

Thanks :)

Congratulations and welcome to the LA board!

Start with your budget first.  Once you've got that worked out it will be easier to make decisions later on.

Have you thought about Pickwick Gardens?  You can have an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception.  One of our knotties got married there not too long ago and she said they were amazing (I also don't think she was working with a big budget).

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!  Finding a venue will be key to figuring out the next steps.  I cut my guest list to a pretty small number because my venue was a pricier than I had expected.  Since you are new, you may want to look at "planning bios" (like mine below) to see where the other knotties are getting married and where they found their dress, etc.  Have fun planning!

    Welcome and Congrats!!!

We are always excited to get new gals on with us to chat and help about weddings!Laughing

I think like Jagore mentioned set your budget and work your way down the list. $ is key! Also like LALA said check other brides BIO explore, google do as much research as you can before making choices. It's going to be soooo much fun!

    Again Welcome!!!!

Congratulations!!! Welcome to the boards...here you will find tons of ideas and we will help you make the planning a bit easier.  :)

I suggest you start with the budget...and from there you can get a rough head count. Then start a guest list. GL! Happy Planning!

my advice to you is to start with the big stuff. Church (if you are getting married thru one) then reception venues. I didn't know this at first, but you can actually tell venues to "pencil you in" until you get a chance to do a site visit. THey will jot you down and if a potential client comes in to sweep the date away for that venue, they will usually call you before to notify you if you are penciled in. THis was a huge help knowing this when I was planning. Also, you need to maek some important decisions as far as budget, who's paying for what, and make a priority list of what's more important to you and what you are seeking and that will help narrow your choices. Also, LOTS of bridal magazine help!!
