Honeymoon...

So I have been so decisive about everything...except for the honeymoon. I keep going back and forth between about 5 different places. all within my price range I just cannot decide where I wanna go. So I thought I'd ask you ladies where you are going on your honeymoon and why you chose to go there?

Re: Honeymoon...

  • We are going to Cancun. We were really in between Jamaica and Mexico. I really wanted the resort to just "grab" me... pull me in and make me say "This is is! This is where we are going!" and the Royal Cancun did just that! We looked at so many resorts where I thought it looked great and beautiful, but none of them really pulled me in except this one! :) Go with your gut!!

  • We are going to Italy. We chose to go there because we both have family from there and have always wanted to go. Plus, we wanted to go somewhere we hadn't been before. We also considered going on a cruise to Alaska, but decided not to because it seems like an older crowd. That is on our list for somewhere to go in the future though.

7night Southern Caribbean Cruise. I travel a lot, but FI has never been out of the country and the three of the many things that he wants to do in life is see clear blue water, swim in the Caribbean Sea cuz I told him how warm it is, and swim with dolphins. So we're gonna knock those out on our honeymoon. I thought his first experience in the Caribbean would be better visiting multiple islands. And he's obsessed with it. So obsessed to the point that I'm talking to him about our EPics and he's asking about shore excursions. Lol. Like we gotta get thru the wedding first dude.! Lol

  • Maui...I have been to Hawaii before (Oahu) and it was absolutely beautiful. We wanted to stay in the US, and we wanted somewhere with sunny beaches and breathtaking landscapes. Maui is known to have a romantic feel and we have friends who have honeymooned there and highly recommended it.

  • We chose to make a trip around Napa Valley.  FI really wanted something relaxing, but I can't stand sitting on a beach- I get so bored!  We wanted to go somewhere that neither one of us had been.  I've been very fortunate to have travled quite a bit.  FI lived in different parts of Europe growing up.  Between where he had been and where I had been, we had a hard time deciding on a place.  We haven't been to Napa and we thought it would be relaxing, romantic, but still plenty to do.

  • I'm pretty sure we are going to Tahiti/Bora Bora. I have traveled to about 12 different countires, while FI has never left the country! We wanted to go somewhere on the beach and I wanted to go to a country I hadn't been to. It's also nice that we can get a direct flight out of LA which is close ot where we live. After talking to a lot of married people who said they wish they had done a longer and nicer honeymoon we decided that we would spend less on the wedding to give us more money for a great honeymoon. I'm really looking forward to it!

  • Western Caribbean Cruise through Royal Caribbean...

I went on a RC cruise senior year in college with a friend (to the Eastern Caribbean) and LOVED it. FI has never been on a cruise. We wanted to do something we haven't done together yet. The cruise was my favorite vacation I've ever had without him, and he thought it'd be fun... I like relaxing on vacation, and he's a "go go go" type, so we figured a cruise with excursions would be a good mix of our preferences.

  • We're going to Riviera Maya. At first I was being kind of snooty about our honeymoon. I wanted something different & unforgettable to a place I hadn't been before. But I also wanted to go away for 10-14 days also . I realized that it's our honeymoon, our first trip as a married couple & it's going to be different & unforgettable no matter where we go.

We decided to stick a little closer to home to avoid spending 2+ days travelling & to save on airfare so we'd have more of our budget to spend on a nicer hotel. This narrowed us down to the Caribbean & Mexico. Then we decided we wanted an all-inclusive with excellent reviews. 2 of my friends got married in the past year & stay at The Royal Playa del Carmen in Mexico so I looked into it & really, really liked it. It was everything we were looking for. I showed FI & he also loved it. I went through Hotwire & got an amazing deal so we booked it!

  • I've never been out of the country. FI has been to Jamaica and Mexico. We are leaning towards Jamaica even though he's been there because 1. the flights are cheap and 2. he said it will be a lot different going at 23 then when he was 12 which is true. I just want the honeymoon to be perfect so I keep being indecisive about it

  • We haven't booked anything yet, but we are thinking about spending about a week each in Bracelona and Portugal! We wanted to do something different that would have a good mix of culture, romance, and relaxation. Both of us are super fair skinned, so we can only tolerate a day or two of the beach before we turn bright red, so the Carribbean was out. I studied abroad in Spain but never made it to Barcelona, and have heard nothing but amazing reviews about it!
