Budget Wedding Venues??

Hello, I am newly engaged, planning on a July 2013 wedding in the Lancaster area.
I can't seem to find any sort of reasonably priced wedding venues. Everywhere I've stumbled across includes the price of catering but (shock) I don't plan on using a caterer. I've got plenty of willing and able people in my family (and his) to help us out with food.
We are both in college, paying for the wedding ourselves, and in need of some advice.
There will likely be 100-150 guests.
Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

Thank you!!
Amanda K

Well, how budget is "budget"?  And do you have a sense of what you are looking for? A park pavilion; a fire hall; or maybe a venue like Liberty Place, Mulberry Art Studio, Lime Spring Farm (they have a tent), The Iris Club, or maybe the MU Lancaster building (used to be the music academy) across from Central Market, or maybe out of town a bit at Pheasant Run B & B?

Be sure to check out the upcoming bridal shows- at the Eden Resort on Oct. 30 and the big one at the Lancaster Host Jan. 15.  You'll find plenty of inspiration there!

If you are looking more at the 100 guest range-I would definitely look into Perfect Settings in Columbia. The owner; Daisy is amazing to work with and so helpful. She offers a great price, and you get to bring in everything on your own so you dont have to use a caterer if you dont want to. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I definitely recommend Pheasant Run B & B. My cousin had her wedding there and it was beautiful. They have a decent kitchen where her family brought the food to. You get a free room at the B&B for having your wedding there.
Having your family do the food will save you quite a bit however finding a place that is okay with you doing that is hard to find!

July is in season most places, so it's harder to find deals. Rockford Plantation will let you have your own catering and out of season (Nov-April) is $1300 to rent. In season (May-Oct) is $2400. The barn seats 110 people, so if you get up to 150 you will need a tent which adds cost.. but it was the most reasonably priced place I found (I'm doing a November wedding) and it's beautiful.

Thank you everyone! This has been very helpful. I've been looking at Landis Valley Museum and will be visiting this Sunday but I am still looking around.

A quick warning about Landis Valley so you don't suffer a little sticker shock - their 2012 prices increased significantly over what they have on their website currently.

yes kim is right- as well as they DO NOT include items- such as ICE and you need to rent tables (i think $7 per) and chairs from them! You can also try a few community rooms- maple grove is a NICE room and if you are having a summer wedding you can rent a canopy tent and have the ceremony all in one site....you would need to provide decorations and food= but at least the chairs and tables arent Extra! Also look into a few fire halls- i know the new danville has one, and eden they rent out for weddings. the fireside tavern rates are resonable (about 50 a person including drinks!), and riverdale manor isnt to pricey either..good luck!
