  • We finally ordered our invitations!!  We also went back out to the venue so we can plan some decorations, so things are moving along.

Need to order favors, and get moving on the honeymoon. We have a couple prices but then they changed on us, so we are working on that now. Hope to have that done by the end of the week. Then onto Flowers!

  • WR - We finally booked our reception venue, so we have a date! We also met with a photographer who we love, and will probably book him this week as well. I'm so excited to finally have a date set! I also asked most of my bridal party, with one more girl to ask this week.

NWR - I went car shopping with my dad on Saturday and will probably continue it today. I'm looking at the Buick Verano (I never thought I'd want a Buick, but it's new and it's so cute! Tons of features!), Ford Focus and Chevy Cruze. I'm kind of torn... My dad has $2000 in GM points to give me, which would be good on the Verano and Cruze. The Verano is built on the same platform as the Cruze, but it's a little different and has WAY more features. However, it would probably be about $ 4-5k more since I wouldn't bother getting a fully loaded Cruze. I like the Focus better than the Cruze, but it would also be more expensive because it's not a GM car and my dad feels like if I'm going to spend the 25 to 26k on the fully loaded Focus, I might as well spend the 27 or 28k to get the Verano, which is a nicer car. It's considered a small luxury car, whereas the others are economy cars. Gas mileage is best on the Focus, followed by the Cruze. The verano gets 5 fewer mpg than the others, both city and highway. Decisions!

Wedding goals for the week - Try to find a Catholic church in the city and book the ceremony. I wish we didn't have to bother with this, it would be so much easier to just get married at the venue, but FI's mother was apparently really upset that his brother didn't get married in the church, so FI feels like we have to. I'm not even a practicing Catholic.

  • Finished our save the dates (somehow can't quite bring myself to call them STDs); made a final guest list for invites, went to our tasting, contacted a baker for our cake, contacted a DJ and lighting specialist, picked up one of the bridemaids dresses (which they ordered super early but... and then it came in months ahead of when they said it would but I guess I shouldn't complain about  things coming in early.  Got a free garter set from a blogger giveaway at the wedding queen dot blogspot dot com .  Am working on finding a veil.  Final payment made on dress.  Not sure what I'm doing about a photog yet or if we're having a photobooth; flowers not chosen although the venue has centerpieces(major bonus for a bride on a budget).  Once my tax return comes in venue will be more than half paid for so I guess that's next on my list. No familiy arguments yet (so far so good right?)
  • So very I have off from work today :)

WR- I am having trouble finding a wedding band.  My e-ring is square shaped and so nothing sits right and I am not really into getting a custom made band. I stopped at a jewlery store today and they actually had something I liked so when FI get's home we will be going to look again.

Big check, all my BM have ordered their dresses :) So now on to the next item!!
  • My weekend was uneventful as I planned. My FI and I watched Spartacus ALL weekend and he took me to Sabrina's for brunch LOL

  • FI and I set up our registries on Friday. I've already edited them a bunch of times and we still have a few more things to add, but at least the majority of it is done. I also met with a third florist on Saturday which didn't go well AT ALL.

This week I want to make an appointment to look at BM dresses, and maybe tweak the registries a little more.

@angelstar - my boss just bought a Cruze last week and LOVES it :-)

  • WR: I am currently working on our STDs.  We did magnets but I didn't just want to throw them in an envelope so I made a little craft project out of it. Hoping to get the rest done tonight and stuff them so we can get them in the mail by the weekend. Another florist appt this week.  Hoping to get that checked off the list this week, too!

I ended up with the Verano... they gave us a great deal and they offered WAY more for my trade in than I thought they would. It's built on the same platform as the Cruze but has more features and is just a better car. The car technically hasn't come in yet though, so even though we did the paper work, I don't get it for a few more days. That's okay, I have to say goodbye to my current car first, haha... we've been through a lot together :)

  • Last week, we sent our deposit in for the Merion Cricket Club and on Saturday I said yes to the dress! Found my dream dress at Castle Couture (and saved almost $900 by buying the sample!). I can't wait to wear it next May!

We've already met with some photographers so I'm hoping to finalize the one I love this week!

  • This happened a few weeks ago but we officially set our date by booking the church.  We're still looking at reception venues but so far we found 2 that we really like.  I have a feeling we'll end up going with one of those.  I think after our next appointment on Thursday of this week we'll sit down and probably decide.  I think most of them are kind of the same after awhile...but since we pretty much have our hearts set on our top 2, we should probably just make a decision.  It's still relatively far away (a year and 8 mos) but one place we were going to look at already booked something on our date, so I don't think I mind booking so far in advance.  We will just need to navigate the contract and talk about what would happen if the venue were to close or cancel or something horrible like that.  Particularly if we go with the venue that requires a larger deposit.  I'm considering wedding insurance-it runs a few hundred bucks, and is worth it considering the overall price you pay for a wedding, in my opinion.
