Photographers in Detroit Area

My fiancee and I were just turned down by a photographer for no specific reason. I can only speculate as to why, so I won't. My problem is this photographer had particular finishes to his photos that my fiancee really liked. It was a vintage kind of after-effect, something to make the photos look aged, as though they were taken in, say, 1957 or so, but without taking away from the clarity of the shot. She seems to think that this was the only photographer out there who had that finish and would apply it liberally to our photos without an extra charge. Is she right, or are there photographers in Metro Detroit that can provide this finish as part of the package?

It should be noted we're on something of a budget, as we're paying for the wedding ourselves, but still intend on paying quite a bit for a photographer. That's one area you don't try to cut corners, after all.

  • I seem to remember Amanda Williams having that kind of finish on her photos.  She books up super fast but you could check her out at amandawilliams.com
  • I believe that Adrienne and & Amber photography also have that finish. I would check with them.

  • Essentially the photographer that turned you down is full of it.

The effect you're talking about is something that can EASILY be added to any photo using photoshop. Most novice photographers will know how to do this, so don't worry!

Find any photographer and just show them an example of what you're looking for and chances are they will be able to mimick the effect.

I worked for a wedding photographer once just editing photos and half of what I did was applying pre-made photography "effects" to photos.

If you're looking for cost effective, I will be using Amy Pruder (amypruder.com) - her prices are very reasonable.

  • Blaine Seisser Photography will do this finish as well.  I agree with PP that it's just BS...it's easily done on Photoshop or with certain filters on a lense.

  • Who was your photographer? Which one initally turned you down?
