Retro and Vintage Weddings

is anyone else worried?

...well I'm just having a hard time envisioning what the actually wedding is going to look like on the day- I feel like my theme isn't going to come through and that a lot of the touches I want to do just wont happen--I don't know I guess I just feel like time is marching on soo fast and that I just don't have a good handle on my own wedding!

does anyone else feel this way??

Re: is anyone else worried?

  • I feel the EXACT same way.  Which is really worrisome cuz my wedding is still a year away and I have lots of time to plan.  I'm worried that no one else will get my vision and it'll just look like a big mess!

I should listen to my own advice, but hang in there. I'm sure everything will be perfect no matter what!
  • thank you =)

and i'm sure yours will be amazing as well!

  • Mine is TWO years away and I have the same worry! I think we probably all feel that way at least a little bit, because we've never planned a wedding before! I've only been to one wedding in my life! (That I remember. I was a flower girl in two of them, but I was too little to recall). So we're kind of breaking new ground for ourselves. We'll get there and I'm sure all of our weddings will be awesome!

  • dont stress!!!! i felt the same exact way about our wedding. i even got the side-eye from tons of people who said...polka dots? but it was GREAT!

did we get to include all the polkadot and retro things i wanted? NO
was it still awesome and came together amazingly and people are still talking about it? YES

everything will be fine and all your hard work will pay off in the end. AND you get to marry the love of your life. what could be better?

  • I worry about that too, but I have faith in my Wedding party!
So far they have already been SUUUPER helpful with ideas, dresses, visions, and everything else. I LOVE my girls and that's why I chose them to be apart of this...not only just to stand up there...but to be an active part of my wedding....and they've been loving it!

Here is some advice as an interior designer, Think about the big gestures. 2-3 main things you want to do that are imperative. Then think the next layer down. Do those relate to your original 2-3 things (stylistically, color, shape etc?)? Keep moving down the line.  Try and always key back to those 2-3 things you originally thought of as your "theme".

It will come together, sometimes you have to re-evaulate and remember what the original thought was.  Simple gestures are often the most effective.  I also think that when time is starting to dwindle, work on the things that HAVE to get done.  Do the "it would be nice if we had these too" items as you have time.

  • I am doing a tremendous amount of DIY. The hardest thing for me is turning it over to someone else to set up, i.e. the centerpieces, the tablerunners, the placecards and candles.
