Changing last names?

Anyone having a hard time changing their last name? I am really excited to change my last name but I know I will lose some stuff doing it. Like my medical card ect... what should I do? Also what are the steps in changing your name?

    I am so looking forward to it. It's one of the many exciting things that happen when you become a Mrs. Oh wow as far as the steps. I guess it depends on the state.

    I know your license and any other health and welfare documents, beneficiary information, any other policies that go along with your last name.

    The steps in changing your name are pretty simple.  First and foremost is changing your social security card, then driver's license, and everything else falls into place after that.

    I was thinking about this earlier. I'm not looking forward to waiting at the SS office or MVA to get these new documents. I think I will shoot for the middle of the month to get this stuff done.

    Im looking forward to changing my name!! I already inquired of the steps and here in Az we have to go the SS office then 48hrs later to DMV for license change then everything else is simple

    I am looking forward to it, but it might not happen for a bit. There is so much to go through when moving overseas that changing my name with make things a little more difficult. I can't start all my paperwork with one name and then change it. I'm going to stick with my maiden name for now and start the process with the US Embassey there.

    i am looking forward to it too...Im just a little sad because I will be getting my Master's a couple of months after I get married. It would have been nice to have my maiden name on my degree, but Im sure I will get over tha part soon

    So far my bank is the easiest. Just bring two forms of ID and the marriage license and I'm done. I heard that SS can be crasy to change.

    EDIT- had a stupid moment and to think bout that question i posted.

    I finally decided to drop my maiden name & just take FI's last name.

    I dread the SS change, but everything else should be easy. Since I'm not going on a honeymoon right after, I can change everything asap!
