Hair/Makeup Artists

I'm looking for a hair and makeup artist that will travel to my wedding location, preferably one near the shore or central jerz. Any recommendations?

Also, did you guys pay for your trials or get them for free? Seems like a lot of them charge...?

There are a bunch of hair and makeup artist suggestions a few posts down.

That's a good question about prices for trials. I get the feeling that there's always a fee and it's generally slightly less than the actual wedding day. I think I read that some artists don't charge if you don't like their work though. My trial with the renowned (and very nice) makeup artist Jeanine Mangan is $50 and the place that I'm looking at for hair, La Sorella, charges $100 for a trial. They don't even list their wedding day prices! Yikes! If you have to ask you can't afford it?!

Leigh Anne Borrelli will be doing my makeup.  She is located in downtown Toms River and her prices are really reasonable.  She works at face to fase and her website is www.vanity101.com">www.vanity101.com

For makeup, I'm using makeupbydenise.com. Denise lives in Toms River and will come to you the day of. Trials take place at her house and I think I paid $45 for the trial. Her prices are pretty affordable compared to some of the prices I've seen other girls paying here on the board.

I used Michelle Lo Conte for hair and Cristina Pignataro for makeup. They travelled to me in Monmouth County. Both charge for trials. I was so happy I did a trial for hair- I thought I wanted an updo but after the trial (even though I loved the style) I realized for my wedding I wanted it half up, half down. I didn't do a second trial b/c I knew Michelle would do a great job. For makeup, I had another makeup artist booked (please avoid FaceFX at all costs) whom I had a trial with. It was decent. However, there was a big falling out a few weeks before my wedding and Cristina came to the rescue. I never did a trial with her- but day of her work was amazing. Overall though, even if you have to pay, I'd recommend a trial.

I second Jeanine Mangan. She travels without a fee and does airbrushing for the price of what most charge for regular makeup.

One more thing...how far in advance before the wedding did you do your trials?

Are you booking your makeup and hair stylists without doing the trial first? I'd be okay to do that with makeup, but I'd be a little nervous about booking hair without first seeing their work.
