Renting stuff timing?

So FI haven't gone throught the details because we would need to visit our venue and, not that's it's far away, but we just haven't been able to find the time right now. We need to figure out how many chairs/tables we need and where we are going to put them. Right now our guest list could fluctuate easily. We are inviting around 80, but could have 55-70. We won't know until RSVP time (which I haven't figured out either *sigh*) SO... I was planning on going to the venue within a month or so and calling rental places in June-ish time, but then I saw a thread that freaked me out. Someone asked something along these lines and people said to call asap. One girl even said her place was running out of stuff 9-10 months out I think. What?!

So when are you taking care of rentals? We live in a small/medium-ish area so I'm not sure at all.... ugh.... the list just keep spiling up.

  • Oh gosh I did rentals in November I think; depending on what you want and availability, leaving it that late can be very tricky. Plus, the rentals aren't set in stone; you provide an estimated amount and the tweak it come rsvp time. I'd do it sooner rather than later just to be sure you have what you need. It's a lot easier to adjust a number later than to hunt for available services.

  • I did my rentals this month. I told them an estimated number and I can adjust it when we get the RSVPs in. I would do it sooner than later! There is no such thing as too early in my book =]

    Well for us, we have to bring all the tables, chairs, linens, EVERYTHING into the venue because it's an art gallery, not a reception hall. We had to make sure we booked everything we needed. We also knew that our max for dinner would be 150 because we can't have more than that for a sit down meal.
    The clear chiavari chairs aren't as plentiful either, so we didn't want to miss the boat!
