Wedding Ceremony Help!

Hi all!

I am very recently engaged (only since Thanksgiving), but we have set our date (May of 2013) and I want to get the big things booked. (We are getting married here in Minnesota.) We already booked our reception hall and officiant and are working on a DJ and photographer. I am having a big issue with finding a ceremony site, though. It seems like a lot of venues require you to do the ceremony and the reception at the same location, and obviously that doesn't really work for us. We would prefer to have an indoor ceremony, or at least somewere with a pavillion for cover in case it rains. Also, it isn't a COMPLETE requirement, but I would really like a place that has windows to the outside, aka a lot of natural light. We have a guest list of a little over 300 people so the venue would have to hold up to at least 250. Neither of us is particularly religious, but would consider a nondenominational church. (We really liked the Nazareth Chapel, but unfortunately they have college commencement that weekend.) Any help would be SO greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Jill

I had the same problem seaching for a ceremony site. We finally found Black Bear Crossings on Lake Como. It's a gorgeous location! It's a huge covered promenade, so you get to be outdoors but have the advantage of it being covered so no need for a back up site. I believe it seats up to 400 people. I have pics of it that I took in my bio, and you can check out their website. They have 4 different time slots. The do reserve one of the slots for couples who are having their reception there as well, but that leaves 3 other time slots available for anyone. http://blackbearcrossings.com/

Which reception hall did you choose?  That might help so you don't get suggestions that are an hour away.

Black Bear is amazing, you'll love it! It is a *little* far from your reception site (about 35 minutes or so), but if you don't mind that, then def check it out!

Another site I found when I was looking for ceremony sites was the Steeple Center in Rosemount, which would be a little closer to your reception venue. I've never toured it so I can't tell you how nice/not nice it is, but it looks fairly nice in the pictures. And the prices are ridiculously low. Might be worth checking out. :)

    Good luck!
