I was married a while ago and shouldn't even still be on here, but...

The Knot rules are so that vendors pay to advertise on The Knot and not for free on this board.  To think that the Knot is trying to personally protect you from vendors because they like their customers is just silly.  I personally know of two vendors in the wedding business who covertly advertise on here by posing as brides.  If I know of two, how many brides on here are fake?

Secondly, I was glad to hear of new vendors offering free services and that may come in handy to those who aren't financially able to afford something otherwise.  I say, let them advertise if they want...if the Knot really cares about its members, they will be glad to allow less financially-capable members to get something for free.

Also, under this rule, we shouldn't allow people selling wedding items on this board of any kind (brides selling centerpieces, dreses, etc.).  Technically, they are 'vending' a product.
