NWR: Back! Camping review

FI and I went away with weekend with some friends to do a float trip in Noel, MO. The actual floating was a TON of fun, but we camped for two nights and I have to say WORST CAMPING EXPERIENCE EVER! I wanted to share here because I've seen some girls mention how they like to go.

A co-worker recommended the place, Shady Beach. Ugh, terrible. And I'm not saying it's terrible because I need amenities or anything. The problems were:

1) Lots too close together, un-shaded (hardly any trees) and mostly mud
2) Right next to a road. People would drive by and honk at all hours of the night
3) Supposed 'quiet time' at 11pm was not enforced. The people around us were up ALL NIGHT shouting and partying. I'm not a prude or anything, but at the same time I'd prefer you didn't have sex on the picnic table next to my tent, thanks!
4) No security. Well, there was, but he never patrolled. We were expected to get up in the middle of the night from the far end of the camp to go get him if we had a problem, which we did. A guy went THREE TIMES to look inside my friends' tent and rummaged in their cooler. We were afraid to get out of the tent and walk past the party because we knew we would be harassed.
5) No water spigots readily available like they claimed

So, I really just needed to share/vent. Don't stay at Shady Beach.

Guess the name says it all....Shady Beach is right.  Good to know!  That totally sucks about the rude campers next you.

ha ha ha i have totally been there and you were totally right with everything you said!! It's fun in the day---but once the sun goes down not so much :) We love to camp!! We go all the time! However, we hate camping with people that just camp to get drunk..we can do that at home :) You next time should try a place called Eminence (sp...) MO. It's a little furthur but we've had a lot better luck than Shady Beach :)
