Does anyone know if its safe to take a cab from Cancun Airport to a Hotel in the hotel zone? Anyone know how much something like that would cost?

Taxis aren't allowed to enter the Cancun Airport, so it's probably not a good idea. There are a lot of travel companies that will work with you! We used Cancun Transfers (http://www.cancuntransfers.com/express/) when we went to the Riviera Maya for our honeymoon. They show up in a SUV with nice AC to drive you to your hotel. The drivers were really nice, didn't do any crazy stunts and it was the cheapest price I found.

Sometimes your hotel or resort will have their own transportation van that will take their guests to and from the hotel/resort

Contact your resort to see if they have a transfer service.
If not, you can set up directly through Cancun airport: http://www.cancun-airport.com/transportation.htm

contact your resort. most have transportation to and from the airport. cabs are no longer allowed to do pickups/drop offs from the airport. we use our resorts transportation every year when we go.

you also need to ask if it's shared transportation with other resorts. sometimes if your resort is the furthest you'll have to make a few stops to drop off others first and it can take some time. imo-in that case it's worth it to book a private transfer.

I just posted this above, but we use USA Transfers for private transfers I've yet to find a better deal.

I second pp, we used USA Transfers last year for our honeymoon in Cancun. Very safe and reliable.

We just got back form our honeymoon in that area and we used Lomaas Travel. Clean vehicles, driver speaks english and they take you straight to the hotel, I would highly recommend.
