Registry Stalking

Ok, so I know I'm having a shower, but everything about it is a surprise.  That's fine by me, whatever.  But my mom emailed me and said that I should give her my password so she can lock me out so I can't look at it (although I could just look at it without the password if I pretended I was a guest, so whatever!).  I feel that if I want to registry stalk and ruin surprises, that's my own problem.  Besides, it's exciting to see stuff go and I'll be wondering who bought it so it will be a whole other surprise.

What do you ladies think?  Did you or will you stalk?  Do you regret it?  Just curious to hear your thoughts.

I stalked... It was soo addicting and I really tried not to.  A

I do not regret it.  I mean, people were purchasing the stuff I picked out anyway.  The surprise was who was giving it to me, and that stayed a surprise until I opened the gift!

I haven't been stalking it that much. I'm in the same boat as you, I know that I'm having a shower, but I don't know anything else about it. I checked last week and our first few items were purchased! So now it's a daily routine when I get home, haha. As long as you don't know who's actually bought it for you, I think it's fine.

I stalked but I would not give your Mom a hard time about wanting to keep it a surprise. i think it is really sweet that she wants to keep it a surprise. If you want to stalk - go for it - but let Mom think everything is a surprise. Her little girl only gets married once. Smile

I agree with Emily - I already knew what we registered for. The real surprise was who bought which items and that was fun!

I think everyone registry stalks to some degree and I know I sure will be doing some stalking when that time comes...

I agree with Gabs and think its sweet that your Mom is trying to make every aspect a surprise. I say just give her that password and if you really have the urge to stock...you can look at it from a guest perspective as you said haha

My mom was very similar - wanted to keep everything a surprise, as my shower was all a complete surprise. I agree with Gabs. Let your mom try to keep you surprised if that's what she wants to do for you. If you feel the urge to stalk, go for it. Just don't tell your mom that you're peeking :)

For me, stalking didn't ruin the surprises at all. I don't regret it at all. registered for a reason - so that people can buy us gifts that need and want. The most exciting part was seeing who bought us what gifts. And it was kinda like opening the gift twice - once when you look at the registry (it's exciting to see that item you've wanted was purchased) and again when you actually get the gift!

I stalked.  I stalked obsessively.  Sometimes I would check multiple times each day.  I felt like a kid at Christmas each time I saw the word  ”completed” next to something.  I would text my FI to tell him “Someone bought us XXX!!!”.  I regret nothing!

My mom also “yelled” at me for looking – it became a running joke.  I mean honestly you already know what you registered for – so how much of a surprise are those gifts really going to be?  The fun of opening the presents is not diminished (at least it wasn’t for me ;)

My mom said not to look, but I will.

Oh wait, that should go in the Confessions post :)
