In honor of hoffse's awesome bucket list post, let's share our vacation plans for the year, whether booked or at least in planning stages. It will give some of us some reviews to look forward to!
April: Puerto Rico/St. Regis Bahia
May: Kauai/Westin Princeville
July: Jersey Shore (where I'm from); NYC/Hotel TBD
August: Most likely Cabo/Zoetry Casa Del Mar.
December: Budapest/Bratislavia/Vienna/Salzburg; hotels TBD
I may also be considering a trip to Ethiopia. One of my friends just moved there for a year for work. It's one of those places I wouldn't otherwise visit.
Re: Vacation Plans this year!
[QUOTE]WOW! Those travel plans are most impressive! <strong>Our wedding is this October so all of our extra money will go towards wedding savings</strong>. Aside from travelling to New Orleans for our menu/cake tasting in May (and checking out Jazz Fest while we're there), and back to New Orleans for our wedding in October, we'll be going to the DR for our honeymoon in November. Perhaps 2014 will have the trip to France I've been wanting. :-) In Response to Vacation Plans this year! :

Good point! I got married last year, so no more saving for the wedding! Plus, I'm no longer commuting back and forth between Denver and Phoenix, which was not paid for by work, so I now have FF miles to burn :)
[QUOTE]We're spending three weeks in New Zealand and Australia for our honeymoon in March. Unfortunately, that pretty much wipes out FI's vacation time until late Summer. I run on a PTO schedule at work instead of standard vacation time, so I have more time off than him. My mom and I did a girls trip last June at which time we visited Italy, France and Spain. Maybe I can talk her into making it an annual thing... :) Otherwise, FI and I have been talking about doing either a trip to the British Isles or a California coast cruise in the Fall.

Have fun in NZ/Australia! We did our DW/HM in Queensland over 2.5 weeks there in August. I cannot say enough amazing things about it. We're targeting a trip back next year as we want to go for our anniversary, but can't this year b/c of DH's daughter moving into her college dorm during that time.
we HM in Costa rica this past November
February: we JUST (as in 30 mins ago) booked a trip to Dominican-Riu merengue
July: Prince Edward Island-staying at a cottage for a week
So my vacation money this year is going to be spent as follows: painting the exterior of our house, putting in landscaping, updated the patio (hopefully), paying vet bills, and paying for an animal behaviorist to work with our pup at home.
Have fun on all your trips!
[QUOTE]<strong>February: Puerto Rico</strong> We'll probably also go somewhere this summer. We're considering San Diego, or Seattle, or somewhere else.

We're tentatively planning France for 2014, too. :)

Other than that, no set vacation plans. Hopefully I'll have a teaching job next fall, so no vacations until the winter break or the next year. We're also realllly hoping to save up for a 1 year anniversary trip to Italy. That was supposed to be our honeymoon, but we didn't have enough money to do everything we wanted and stay as long as wanted to. Maybe next year!
I'm pretty jealous of some of the destinations listed here so far!
SaveSave
May: Pun*a Cana for H's 30th b-day
August: Either a Bahamas cruise or Miami for my 30th
Probably another trip to CT either in the fall or for Christmas with the fam.

July: 5 days in CO for a wedding
And after that we're saving $ and vacation for a 2 wk Italy trip early 2014. I burned up all of my vacation days last year (2012) btwn an Amsterdam/Paris/Barcelona/London trip in the Spring and 8 days in Ireland in the fall, so it's back to saving up again!

Ali- I had no idea you had to have surgery in MX! I hope you are okay!
It would be funny if we were in PR at the same time, but we're not spending anytime in San Juan.
San Fransisco, CA---we are doing 2 days in the city, a Napa Valley day tour and then driving down the coast for 2 days/nights with lots of beach/park/great food stops.
We're also going somewhere in the fall probably but that is TBD.
Will also probably be doing Vegas and Northern MI for weddings.
This year we are going to Las Vegas in April for 4 days. Never been so pretty excited!
Then in September we are going to Florida for a few days (Pan handle) and then going to New Orleans for 5 days. My friend is getting married in Florida and then they are coming with us to New Orleans. So that will be their Honeymoon. I have been before but my husband has not and nor has my friend. Although her fiance has. So it will be a lot of fun. I love New Orleans!
I am trying to convince my husband that we should do another small trip at some point. We will see. Maybe next winter. :-)

<div>I lived in Nashville for 7 years, so let me know if you need recs. It's one of my favorite cities, and April is incredibly beautiful up there. If you have time, make sure to take a walk through Vanderbilt. It's a national arboretum, and they landscaped it so that the flowering trees are well-spaced. I went to college there and during April I would literally have flowers fall on me on the way to class. Totally one of my favorite places, and April's my favorite month up there :)</div>

Awesome! We are going there for a Red Wings/Thrashers game. My H has gone there every year for like the last 3 years and LOVES it. I'm really excited! We'll try to walk Vandy.
Also, I'm incredibly jealous of all you going to Puerto Rico. We've been there twice but it is seriously my favorite place to visit. Every year we are tempted to go again.
March or April: We're thinking either Charleston (we went 2 years ago and loved it) or Savannah (haven't been yet). I might add Nashville into the mix after seeing hoffse's comments. This trip may or may not happen though! Depends on airfare deals.
July (my bday): We'll probably stay fairly close and do either Philly or Baltimore or maybe Pittsburgh.
September (Anniversary Trip): We've been so focused on this one. We're still in between San Francisco + central coast OR Portland, Oregon/Oregon coast + maybe Olympic National Park in WA.
stillwell: That HM sounds AMAZING.

Hi. Aw thank you :) I'm ok now but 3 weeks ago before surgery it wasn't so nice. I have to say though-the hospital and doctors were outstanding!! i would not hesitate to go back or to to take any of my family members to the hospital there. nicer and cleaner than in the states-go figure.
We're staying for an afternoon/overnight the night before our cruise. DH hasn't ever stayed on the island but i've been a few times. looking forward to it after the mexico vacation disaster LOL
enjoy your trips!! looks like you have some great ones planned!!
[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Vacation Plans this year! : Will you come back and tell us about your Alaskan cruise? We' d like to do one in the next few years!

Absolutely! I know CMGr has recommendations, too. We are using Royal Carribbean.

<div>Crazy - I totally went to that same game a couple years ago.</div><div>
</div><div>I would just grab lunch or something to go and eat on one of the benches or outdoor tables with umbrellas on campus. They are all over the place. Try SATCo (San Antonio Taco Company) if your H has never tried it. Dirt cheap tex mex and incredible cheese dip. They are across the street from the main library and have a great outdoor patio. Cheap buckets of beer, and there is a ben & jerry's next door :) Another favorite is Bread & Co - it's a Nashville chain sandwich and salad place. Really great food.</div><div>
</div><div>Breakfast places: Loveless cafe (the biscuits won the bobby flay throwdown), Pancake Pantry (like 25 kinds of pancakes and a line around the block, but they move fast), and Monell's if you want a full southern breakfast which won't require you to eat the rest of the day. Monell's also does an incredible dinner.</div><div>
</div><div>Also, if you can get in, Whiskey Kitchen is a pretty good whiskey bar - they sell a lot of Jack but also some more obscure brands. My favorite bar is Patterson House. You have to go really early or really late though because it's impossible to get in. It's a speakeasy, and they only allow you in if there is a chair. Expensive drinks but really classy, and the munchies menu is delicious. Downtown has some fun piano bars, etc. but my two favorites are a bit less known among tourists.</div><div>
</div><div>Finally, Taylor Swift lives in a high rise across from Vandy. She and other stars frequent the 21st avenue & west end starbucks, as well as the Bongo Java out by Belmont. I have a lot of friends who have gotten her autograph ... and a lucky few have snagged Keith Urban's and even Nicole Kidman's, so be on the lookout! Just don't get stampeeded by fans in the process :)</div>
