anyone preserving bridal bouquet?

I'm entertaining the thought of this.. but it is so expensive on the couple of websites I've looked at, and I'm really not wanting to spend more to freeze dry them and put them in a frame than I did on the actual bouquet.  Just wondering if anyone is and if you found decent prices? If not, what are you doing with your bouquet after the wedding?

  • No but I am going to try and press some flowers and put them in a frame, similar to this:

I vaguely remember being told by a florist that it cost like $100-200, which to me seemed a little crazy. I'll probably press a few flowers and then hang the bouquet upside down while we are on our honeymoon and see what happens when we get back!

  • I think I'll just save a flower or two in a book or something. My grandma did it with an orchid from her bouquet in 1958, and it's just fine. Not good obviously, but decent. haha

  • I'm tossing mine...for the bouquet toss.  Since our wedding is in FL and we're leaving for Jamaica the next day it doens't make sense for us to keep it (really no where to put it).  AND this way I didn't have to buy another bouquet to toss!  :)

  • I've been thinking about this too, my mother had hers preserved and its gorgeous I just don't know if its worth it to me or not. Plus where I am located I don't know if there's anyone that does them near by. How does online work? Wouldn't the flowers be ruined in shipping?

  • I'm planning on just selecting a few blooms from my bouquet, pressing and framing them. Exactly how kmac mentioned.

  • I'm not preserving my bouquet...I will probably save a few blossoms for a Christmas ornament/ Pinterest project, but otherwise I can't think of anyway to display it that really meshes with my decor/taste.  I met a woman at a bridal show who is a painter and she paints these beautiful images of bouquets and all she needs is a photo so I might do that at some point.  I mentioned to FI that it would make a great anniversary gift.
  • I think I'm going to dry mine (just hang it upside down in a dark room for a while), but pressing sounds like a cute idea too :) something else to think about!

  • I dried mine many, many years ago and had the typical wedding "shrine" but that gets old and ugly real soon so when my niece got married I commissioned Reenie Rose to paint a modern oil painting of her bouquet.  Now she has a beautiful piece of art for her home that has a lot of sentimental value to it.  Reenie Rose works from photos so she can do the painting any time and any where.  My neighbor gave his wife one for their first anniversary......it was a big hit.
