boutonniere help PLEASE! before I go crazy!

My bridal bouquet is white roses and royal blue crystals, with royal blue ribbon on the stems and his GGgranfathers gold pocket watch hanging as my something old.
My question/problem i finding something that I like and is not frilly girly for my groom?
Does his boutonniere have to match my bouquet?
The bridesmaids have white and light blue roses in theirs.
This is for a Winter/snowflake wedding and the colors are light blue and white except for Groom, our 2 daughters, and I are using the royal blue accent to signify our family unit.

Some people don't do them and just do a colored silk hanky in the pocket. I think a single rose would look elegant and not too girly.

You could do a single white rose and add a piece or two of blue delphinium.  Delphinium comes in a dark and light blue version so it sounds like it would work pretty well with your colors.

non-floral boutonierre's are really popular right now??  just foliage, wheat grass etc.  Then accent it with a darker shade of the blue.  It will contrast with yours but feel more masculine.

Speaking as a floral designer, yes, the groom should definately match the brides bouquet, so it's a white rose for the groom, with a bit of green, that's not frilly or girly.  I think the groomsmen should have a blue rose, to match the bridesmaids.  End of story.  Bunches Bob
