Is $2,400 too expensive for the advanced DJ package from Fantastic DJs?

We meet with John, the owner of Fantastic DJs right before Christmas. We had read really great reviews on him and didn't hear anything negative. We really liked him and had a great connection. Also, he does about 8-10 events at our location a year...which is great because he was able to give us tips.

He has 2 packages; 1 basic ($1,400) and 1 advanced ($2,400) . We would go with the advanced package which includes a top of the line system, with lights, and multiple speakers for our large room.

Most websites don't show how much the packages cost so I am at a loss about where this price stands. I have looked through some DJ reviews on TK and there are a couple that I have seen where people have paid around the amount he offers for the standard package. Any thoughts would be awesome! Thank you and Happy New Year!

Hi There! This package sounds high to me. We got quotes from 3 DJ's when we were looking. Sounds Abound was about $1300-$1400, and the DJ company that we went with was $1500 (+ gratuity) This company was admit one djs, and they were a flashy company. This package came with the upgraded speakers, 6 1/2  hrs of DJ play time, a paging system that our DJ wore so we could get his attention whenever we needed it, and we got to do their "meet the dj night" which is a party that they host that you go to to pick out your dj. If you want to pay less for a dj, then I am sure this is possible if you keep on getting quotes.

I agree with pp, that package sounds way too high!  We've got quotes for top of the line packages with other companies and the most that we've gotten was $1600, which I thought was too much.

That sounds high based on what we got for our wedding.
Check out Music by Design. They have great packages and all their pricing is listed. The all use the appropriate speakers and systems.

The thing I loved the most was their on line planning tool, and their customer service is second to none. They called me no less than 3 times out of the blue during my planning to see if I had questions. I had trouble picking some music and asked for a final meeting and David happily agreed and he helped me pick some of the intro songs, etc. We also went over the whole wedding at that time which I didnt' expect.  He did 2 sound systems. One for my ceremony and one for the reception, total price 1300 for about 8 hours.

During dinner, we dedicated songs to certain guests as a surprise it was great.
He announced the dedications all during dinner it was very cool!!!!

I loved this company, they rocked the house all night long. All DJ's use good sound systems, it's the customer service you want to pay attention to.

I agree that's high for a DJ. We're using Toast and Jam and they are about $1300 for 6 hours of play. I would recommend to keep shopping around

That sounds really high. We weren't looking for a top line package (we don't care for the crazy lights) but most DJ's were in the $500-1000 range for the mid-range package.

Uh, we are so stuck! We really like him and have read nothing but good reviews on him, but it is just a lot of money for one part of the wedding! Ahh stress! haha

That sound really high to me as well. Our DJ have his top apckage at $1,195 which includes 4 speakers, intellegent lighting, which I think is ran by a computer, 2 lite colunms with lights and 6 uplights. We hired them, one reason being their light show. It was very impressive. This is their online video of it. http://www.midwestvideoproductions.com/answer_back_entertainment.htm

How large is your wedding?  We are going with him, and are having a little under 300 people and he told us the standard package would definitely work for that amount of people - we just added a bass to increase the quality of sound a bit.  I agree, he's great and had very good ideas - plus his online planning is AWESOME.  I'm a teacher and don't have a whole lot of time during a typical work day to be dealing with vendors, so I rely on email, online planning, etc.  I would check with him to see how many people can be accomodated by the standard package, because it might be the way to go.  Good luck!!

OMG!  LOL  I just read this thread because I was interested in the topic, and I can't believe some of the responses.  Am I the only one that can see that the follow up messages are posted by a person from the companies recommended?  Almost every one of those recommendations are commercials!

Hello everyone and thank you for taking time to respond.  No, I don't think you can really put a price on your DJ.  Fantastic DJ's is at the top of providing only the absolute best that there is.  Really, yes!  There are many companies that will charge you between $1100.00 - $1600.00 for the standard package with a lot of annoying lights.  All of our packages are a "cut above" of what's offered.  REMEMBER, you are investing in EXPERIENCE, PASSION, PERSONALITY, IDEAS & EQUIPMENT, all this adds up to a night of fun and when you look back, you will not regret your investment with Fantastic DJ's, escpecially me (John) the owner.  Greg & Natalie get ready for the best night ever.... Yours!

I didn't know this was going to be such a hot topic! I haven't been on theknot for a while and just saw all this chit chat. Well, we did decide to go with Fantastic DJ and picked their top of the line package. It is expensive but we want the best. John was very helpful at providing many different options but we just loved the top package. We also went with the photobooth...I think I am most excited about that!!

Anytime you spend a large amount of money stress is going to be a part of it. I think no matter how much money anything else will be for the wedding, we will have stress :)

pquinn18- we are having around the same as you...inviting about 300 but thinking about 250 will actaully come. John did show us the other systems he has, but we were so impressed by the big sound system we had to go for it. Thanks for the thought!

  • I think it sounds high to me, too.......I had prices quoted way less than that, even at higher packages

Look into Music by Design. They had great prices and great reviews...I haven't had my wedding yet, so I can't say how pleased I am but so far so good...
