Blue Wedding

I originally felt sure that I wanted cobalt blue as my main wedding color.  I love the color and I feel it will look good on all BP members.  However, I am having a terrible time finding flowers, invitations, linens, or any other item in the shade I have chosen.  I am about 8 months away from my wedding and we haven't purchased any bridesmaid dresses yet, but my FH is not ok with changing the color at this point.  Any advice on where to find cobalt blue dresses, accessories, rentals, etc?  Any photos where you used a similar color?

Help! :)

Flowers generally do not come in a cobalt blue, so you will need to use different colors.  A great suggestion is to google cobalt blue weddings...this will provide you with a lot of pictures and ideas that center around that color.  Some great color combos are cobalt blue with a bright, rich pink (not pale or pastely), cobalt blue with yellow and gray, cobalt blue with orange, cobalt blue and lime green, etc

Have you looked at DB or AA for cobalt blue dresses...they typically have every color under the sun.

As for your linens and invitations...

Linens - I am really surprised that you can't find linens in a cobalt blue...but with that said, you can always use one of your accent colors for the linens and then for centerpieces use cobalt blue vases to bring that color to the table.

Invitations (if you want to go DIY) - have you looked into Cards and Pockets?  They have so many different colors and combinations to choose from and they are all customizable and either they will print your invites for you or you can print them yourself.

    Good luck!

AA has a beautiful cobalt blue color.  We are doing a few colors - but the bridesmaid dress is one of the new AA colors "mediterranean blue" which is just a slightly muted cobalt.  We are using Ivory, Blue, Gray and Orange.  For flowers, I am doing ivory and orange with a gray ribbon.

Blue is my favorite color. I agree with the points the other posters have raised.

You don't have to have real "matchy-matchy" wedding. It's ok to bring in other colors like cream, or white, or whatever else you like.

The Knot has lots of wedding ideas you can search by color............look up "Blue Weddings" to see what others have done.

It's getting pretty close to your wedding. You need to decide these things and move on. Trust me, no one (to my knowledge) notices that a certain exact color is carried through an entire wedding to perfection.

    Good luck.

Delphiniums, grape hyacinths and you may find some hydrangeas that are fairly deep blue. But like Sue-n-Kevin says, don't try to match everything. For one thing, you'll drive yourself crazy doing the impossible.  For another, the colors will pop more if there's some variance.  Hope your wedding is lovely!

Our colors are aqua blue and gray, and I had a hard time deciding what to do for flowers.  We ended up deciding to go with mostly white flowers, with some light blue hydrangea and a few tiny dark blue accent flowers (sorry, can't remember what they're called).  White and blue look really nice together, and white goes with any color scheme.  Other posters are right, you'll never get everything to be the same shade of blue, but it will still look great with various shades of the same color palette.

Thank you all for your input and suggestions!  I am certainly not trying to do everything in blue, but I do want the main color as a theme throughout.  For example, we are using large satin ribbons along the aisle and then our cake will have a large satin ribbbon, etc.  I am planning on incorporating yellow and white flowers with the blue.  I did take a look at DB and AA for the bridesmaid dresses and they have some nice options.  Thanks again!  Keep the suggestions/photos coming!

Our original color scheme was cobalt blue and white, but we changed it because it didn't fit the elegant look I was going for (or at least, I couldn't make it work).  We're using a darker shade of blue for the wedding party attire, using navy for the reception linens, and I'm going to incorporate a light purple with the flowers to make it a little more feminine. Most of my flowers will be white though.

The mediterranean blue at Alfred Angelo is BEAUTIFUL. I ended up picking this because it is a very rich, flattering color (my bridal party helped me pick it) that is darker than their cobalt. Most blue weddings I've seen online use white or yellow flowers. I've only seen a couple use blue linens. They usually use a neutral color and incorporate the blue with other table decor, napkins, sashes, uplights, etc. I plan to do the same bc my FI and I think putting blue on all of the tables is a little too much. Ditto the PP about cards and pockets. I was planning to use their sapphire color and make them myself, but I found an independent custom invitation designer with really good prices that will be doing my invitations/stationary.

I've spent a lot of time looking through wedding photos on photographers blogs, and I've run across some blue weddings. Unfortunately, I didn't bookmark many of them, but I can give you the link to the blog sites if you want. TK also has a lot of good examples.
