Dance Moms...

Has anyone seen this show on Lifetime? It is taped at a dance school about 10 minutes away from my house! It makes me sad how mean Abby Lee is to her students, but what was really hard to believe was "Minister Dawn". Did anyone see this on the first episode? She is supposedly a minister, but she was screaming at the dance teacher and following her around the studio yelling and the cops had to be called. It makes me wonder if she is a practicing pastor. I could never imagine my pastor doing that. I know pastors/ministers are human too and we all have moments of weakness, it was just difficult to see on TV. Hmmm wonder if it's staged for ratings? 

It is kind of cool though that it's taped near me. My cousin is in the same class at school with one of the little girls on the show. If you haven't seen it, it is kind of sad how catty the moms can be.

    I haven't seen the show but I can only imagine... I will start watching. 

    I was a dancer for 15 years (I stopped only when the "girls" grew in and I realized I didn't have the prima ballerina body-- aka: no future in dancing) but my mom was not a "dance mom".. my dad, on the otherhand, was. He always wanted to be sure I was doing my best, not giving up, etc. He never was "catty" with the other parents but I sure got in trouble if I didn't dance to my best abilities. I love my daddy but he has always pushed. 

    I wouldn't be surprised if the show was staged but some of those moms and dance instructors really are as horrible as appear!

    I don't watch the show, mainly because I don't want to think of all the terrible memories I had, witnessing those kinds of parents at dance competitions. Thankfully my mom was not like that. But plenty of other girls that I danced with/saw dance had them. I was happy once I got to college and my dance program didn't have dance moms, ;)

    I like the show! I think what she is doing is BUT I think she goes about it in the wrong way. I know some of what she says is true, but these girls are really young and shouldn't be treated like that.

    I danced as well and luckily we didn't have any moms that acted like these moms do. I would have been so embarressed if my mom or any mom from my school acted like that.

    Yea, I danced too and now teach a dance class and I could never imagine myself yelling at the girls like that! But I am also not teaching girls who want a future career in dance, so...

    How crazy is it though that it is filmed so close to where I live? haha.

    My cousins dance. And my aunt is "one of those moms" at the competitons. *shudder*

    My mom and I are addicted to this show!! I competed on teams like this for several years and my mom said that those moms remind her of those days. My mom was very calm and just went with the flow, she always made sure I had enough bobby pins in so my hat or headband would not fall off for fear another mom would yell at us for messing up the whole competition. My teachers were never as mean or critical as Abby is and honestly I can not stand her but am addicted to the show! I think it is so sad that she makes those girls cry all the time, especially when she gets the bat out to tell them to straighten their legs!! Dancing was so much fun for me and my mom especially when we would take weekend trips for the competitions, I hate to see these girls crying about it and everyone else giving dancing and the dance moms a bad reputaion.
