need serious help love basketball theme

My fiance and I are ex college basketball players and we coach at revival high schools. We both are into fashion and love and basketball theme. The movie I need help with ideas for decoration and idea venues thanks!

Re: need serious help love basketball theme

  • Don't take this the wrong way but a basketball wedding has the potential to go horribly wrong and look like a kid's birthday party.  I would tone it down and have subtle hints of basketball throughout the wedding, like on the cake or favors.

  • I agree with Hoboken.  I am an ex college player as well, so I get the love, but I would tone it down to the little things.

  • being subtle is key. it's a wedding, not a pep rally. if you want to incorporate some basketball items that's fine, but dont go overboard. clearly love is already a theme-it's a wedding. and fashion? meh. save that for a birthday party or something.
your reception already has a theme you know-you get married, you love each other. there's no reason to pull every little thing in life that you love into it. you see what I mean?

    It's a wedding, not a Halloween party.

Only thing I've got is that I've seen chocolate candy balls wrapped to look like different sports balls, basketball included.  A handful of those in a clear bag would be a cute favor.  You could also do a cake themed with the school you both attended.  Other than that, I don't think you'd want to push it that far.

I don't see where there is a problem here! People actually have halloween themed weddings amongst other things!

Personally my fiance and I ARE going to have a basketball themed wedding and as like any wedding it can be done with tact and look nice! I like the idea of cheerleader/ball player and referee! although cheerleaders annoy me so it would be a male and female ball player for us if we do it that way.  My fiance and I met playing ball at the same highschool and like the movie I went on to play further ball as did he and we seperated, only to reunite and well love and basketball is us.  Frankly, some un-themed weddings tend to look like a prom so what difference does it make????   Even found a beautiful cake that we will use but have altered a little bit!
