Is this a holiday?

Our wedding is going to be Oct 6 (columbus day weekend)

I've never had a 3 day weekend on this weekend, but we know plenty of people who have.

Now -- over 90% of our guests are from out of town, and will have to fly in.

Taking all these things into consideration -- when should I mail out the invites? When should I make the RSVP deadline by?

Should all these be done earlier because of the holiday weekend, and out of town factor?
What dates would you use?

    Do you have a wedding website? I would suggest making one and listing a hotel for out of town guests to stay in and send out STDs relatively early with your website information.  You could definitely send the invites out maybe like 10 weeks ahead? Then you can list the RSVP date earlier too (maybe 5 weeks before instead of 4).  However, I do think most guests will have made travel arrangements prior to receiving the invitation, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. HTH :)

    We have a website and we mailed out the save the dates yesterday. Eee! So exciting!

    Ok, so that's kind of what I was thinking. 10 wks and 5 wks -- thanks for the help!!

    Well, the good thing is that hotels and airlines don't raise their rates for Columbus Day (as least as far as I know).  The only people I know who get CD off are bank and gov't employees.

    You would want to send your STD's at the 6 month mark.  Please be very careful in sending them as once you mail it, that person is invited.  We have many occassions where a bride will come here and ask if she has to send invitations to everyone who received an STD.  Sometime budgets change and that big ol' guest list has to get chopped.  Make sure your guest list isn't bigger than your budget prior to mailing your STD's out.

    I don't think it's a big three day weekend. I'm a public school teacher and we don't get that day off. I would treat it like it's any other weeked.
