Rockland County Help

Hello,

I am looking for a non traditional wedding site (no floral carpets, ballroom, golf course) and am having a very hard time finding anything in rockland county.  Barn, farm, warehouse space, art center or a offbeat restaurant would be great.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

i honestly read your post a few days ago, i couldn't think of anything then except maybe someones huge backyard that you might know. So i  didn't post anything, wanting to think about it for a few days, and i'm sorry to tell you i still have not thought of a place. Maybe there are some art centers/historic homes in Nyack that you can rent out for the day? I know there are tons of farms that do apple picking and other fall festivities, maybe try contacting one of them. Sorry, i can't be of more help.

    good luck planning!!

I wanted to get married in Rockland as a first choice and also wanted a non traditional site.  We had a very difficult time finding what we were looking for and ended up coming accross FEAST at Round Hill in Washingtonville, NY (Orange County)  If you are not opposed to going North a little, this is a beutiful non traditional venue.  There are also TONS of great wineries around.  What time of year are you looking to get married and how big will your guest list be?
There are two cool sites in Rockland, but I have no idea if they would let you hold a wedding there.  Hopper House in Nyack, is cute and charming..it's a gallery in Edward Hopper's old mansion I believe there is very sweet outdoor garden space. Gaga Arts Center in Haverstraw is a huuuuuuge industrial setting, but it is a hip space nearby a creek, also with outdoor space.
Also, if you are into the outdoors, Bear Mountain is redoing their facilities.  It is a very unique, rustic space and there are cabins avaialable for guests.
Hope this helps.  I know Rockland pretty well, so if you give a little more info. I could probably recommend a few restaurants as well.  That is if you don't decide to look outside of Rockland.

Thank you for the ideas. We are looking into fall 2012 but are flexible. Does anyone have feedback on the center for reconciliation in nyack? Also what about the boat house by the park at the nene of n. Broadway? Gaga does not have the permit for weddings...ugh
