Totally Random

So I am completely bored at work and figured heck why not waste some time.

This morning I was listening to the radio (I have XM) and was listening to Hits 1. They were talking about how one of the show hosts received a STD in the mail from her good friend. However, it is her wedding anniversary. She was complaining that her "good friend" stole her wedding date and that there was no way they are going to her wedding because it is their one year anniversary.

Would you be mad if your friend did that?

Re: Totally Random

  • No, but I am always the more the merrier type. We could have big anniversary double dates! And I'm usually okay with celebrating an anniversary on a different day- like the weekend before or after.

  • I don't think I'd get mad. But, it is after all, just a day, IMO. In my head, I'm pretending that my bridesmaid gets engaged and plans her wedding for the same date next year. I have no idea if she'll want me in her bridal party when she gets married - but, if she does, yes. Of course I'll say yes. And even if she doesn't want me in her bridal party, my FH & I can still celebrate - and hey, free anniversary dinner, right? :D
  • I also didn't understand why she was mad. Really, you get one day to be yours, not one day every year.

  • Something similar happened to us.  This is how the conversation happened:

Groomsman and wife:  We are so excited for you guys!!  Have you set a date yet?
    FI: Yes.  October 12.
    GM:  That's our anniversary!
    Me:  No way!
Wife:  That is so cool!!!!  We are going to share an anniversary!

And that is how normal, rational people have that conversation....

  • Ha ha I have a friend who has a fit if anyone schedules a wedding around her birthday.  Her birthday is in the middle of September, you get a birthday and even after 25 birthdays are that big of a deal to me.
  • I don't see why she got mad either. I agree, your wedding day is your one special day, but that doesn't mean other people have to plan their lives around that every year after the wedding. Sounds pretty stupid to me.

  • No way.  I would be mad if it was the same year on the same day.  However this is a year later.  It is just a day.

  • thats crazy...
Our wedding date is actually on a co workers wedding date..it happens NBD

  • That's really self-centered in my opinion. I would never be upset if that were the case, in fact it would be pretty awesome to go to another wedding and celebrate with someone else the same way we did in the past.

On another note my wedding day is on six of my guest's birthdays. They're all excited as anything to go too! Depends on the person I guess....
