Getting Started.

My wedding is in April of 2011. I have tried on a dress i love, but i would love to be a few sizes smaller before i order my gown. i work at a financial institution all day sitting, not being very active. i have cut out most sugars, and carbs and only drink water, but something is still missing. i also take a daily multi vitamin. I want to know is there something i can do, any exercises, work out videos, anything to jump start my weight loss. i don't have time or the extra cash to get a gym membership, so im looking to work out at home. Over all 35 pounds is my goal.

  • If you can afford to get some DVDs, definitely check out Jillian Michaels. She has a few that are really good. What about jogging in your nieghborhood? Do intervals like one minute walk, one minute jog, and repeat. If you're not doing any exercise now, starting any kind of exercise program will make a difference. Just be sure to do it several times a week and be consistent.

  • Some of my favorite workouts are zumba classes, and jillian michael's dvds.
    Also, running is great- the couch to 5k program is awesome- highly recommend it.

    One thing I noticed is that you said you cut out carbs..  my opinion on the no carb thing is that your body does need carbs for energy, but it needs good ones. Everything in moderation (something I am still struggling with!)
  • Cutting out carbs is not only nearly impossible (um, veggies?  dairy?) but kind of silly.  Instead of cutting out ALL carbs, why not just cut out the crappy ones?  Like, processed (white) wheat products (bread, pasta, crackers, etc) and focus on getting a moderate amount of good, healthy carbs, like whole grain products, and sweet potatoes!

    If you're not already, I'd encourage you to start tracking your calories.  You can "watch what you eat" all you want, but if you're still eating too much, you won't lose weight.  Free site like MyPlate (through Livestrong.com) or SparkPeople are great places to look.

  • Thanks To all of you. I got the jillian michaels 30 day shred dvd and have been doing it. and i will definitely check out some of those calorie counting sites! I do still eat lo fat yogurt, wheat thins, and i bought a whole grain lean pocket just to try something new :)
