• I may STEAL your DIY list!!!! I am a diy-er because my fiance begged me to keep to costs down. And I love him. Ha, so I am doing everything on my own with a few bits of help from others. <3

I am a DIYer as well!!!! I was worried about my list being too much to tackle, but I have already started to get my project items together so I can begin. My mom keeps telling me to get a head start on the items because she does not want me to go crazy when 6 months rolls around. I agree with her!!! I am running out of space-- my pile of mason jars, milk jars and antique crates for decor and candy buffet items grows on a weekly basis. People keep telling me that I am starting too early, but then I just keep in mind what my mom told me! :)

Paper:
Save the dates
wedding invitations ( i want to attemp pocket fold)
menu cards
escort cars

Ceremony:
Unity candle
Memorial photos and candles

Gift for bridesmaids (so far)
emergency b-party kit (not a gift but to have that morning)
personalized wine glasses
personalized hangers

Reception:
Decorate mason jars/milk jars
table numbers
"love is sweet" burlap banner for candy buffet
decorate candy buffet jars etc.
candy buffet gumdrop topiary tree, and lollipop tree
candy bufet kraft merchandise bags (stamp them)
Card box
DIY chalkboard signs made from picture frames (one for guest book, signature drink, candy buffet)
burlap table runner
burlap table squares for cocktail tables
votive decorate with burlap or twine
bathroom baskets
escort card holder
OOT bags
guest book pen holder

• It is never to early to start your DIY projects. You don't want to drive yourself crazy when the wedding is only a few months out. There is going to be so much to do and the faster you get your DIY projects done the better! Our office has turned into the wedding room!

• I should make a list because I plan on making a lot of my own things. Thanks for the inspiration, ladies!

• I decided to make my own list to keep myself focused:

Ceremony decor - something for the aisle, chair decorations, and an arch or backdrop
Bubbles or confetti packets
Guestbook
Cardbox
Table numbers or names
Escort card display
Centerpieces
Cootie catcher programs
Favors
Something to make the sweetheart table stand out
"Mrs." hoodie
Will you be my bridesmaid? - I have a few ideas but nothing concrete
Gifts for wedding party
"Thank you" sign
Photo scavenger hunt cards?
Bathroom baskets
Save the dates/Thank you cards/Wedding website/Invites

And my stepfathers friend is a wedding photographer. If I like his work, we will probably go with him, and I'm hoping that since he is a family friend he will cut us a deal if we edit our own pictures and make our own albums. Yeah, it would be a lot more work, but I like doing things like that.
• so glad that i'm not alone in my DIY world!

• Hi girls.
I am trying to do as much as I ccan on my own. I have been totally obsessed with the favors so far.
I am actually not very crafty so trying to make my own invites hasn't really turned out so far. I did make my own enagagement notices and got those all mailed off. I ordered Save The Dates and the formal invites.
How many favors are you planning on having?
And if we order cake boxes does that man we need to order a bigger cake so peole will have some to take home?
My wedding is going to be black and white with red roses and candles evrywhere.
I love the look of the small balck boxes but cannot figure out a good favor for the inside? Any suggestions? I have candy going into little bags and also the small bride and groom favor boxes so candy is out.Help!
Also, I like the daily planner monogrammed books as favors but our wedding is in April. Do you think the planner would be stupid?
I need ideas! Any and all are appreciated. Thanks

FI and I are doing a candy buffet. I would say get enough favors for the amount of people coming to the wedding. For a candy buffet it is usually 1/2 candy per guest. I am confused-- are you giving your wedding cake as a favor or just getting boxes for people to take some home? or looking for something similar to put in the boxes you have? If thats the case, you might be able to ask your bakery for sheet cakes to be able to do this instead of getting a bigger wedding cake made. I am biased with wedding cake. FI and I are doing a cupcake tower, and having the top tier be our cake so we can save it for our first anniversary. We will be cutting into a cupcake. I feel cake often just sits at peoples place settings, and I personally don't know how I would feel about getting a piece of the wedding cake as a favor, but that is just me! :)You can always do the candy in the box or chocolates. If you set on the cake there on tons of sites that make "mini" wedding cakes almost the same concept as petit fours. The planner might not be a good idea because we will already be in april. You can always tie in your monogram by making a sticker monogram for your favor boxes. I found this idea at from target : http://www.target.com/p/Black-Heart-Window-Favor-Boxes-25ct/-/A-10799089?ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001&AFID=Google_PLA_df&LNM=%7C10799089&CPNG=home%20decor&ci_sku=10799089&ci_gpa=pla&ci_kw=

Maybe you can do the black boxes with just red candy in it. HTH!

• Well, I've been seeing the idea of cake in the boxes from checking out things on the internet.I think it was for left overs. It sounded strange to me actually as well. So, obviously it isn't exactly the norm if your not planning on it.
Someone said maybe truffles or some kind of nice candy in the black favor boxes. The idea of saving the first tier of the cake for our anniversary sounds great. And the cupcake tower sounds so cute.
So, any ideas and input is very appreciated. Thanks so much.
• I'm thinking I will be DIYing in order to cut costs and I've picked up some ideas from pinterest that I totally want to steal and use. I figure my list will include:

Table numbers
Centerpieces
Candle/votive holders
Signs
Menu
Programs

Other things but I just engaged over the weekend so I'm still trying to wrap my head around things.

Things like small snacks, gum, mints, water, advil, sweets etc. Some include activities to do in the area, or a schedule if you are doing a welcome dinner, or day after brunch.

• I am going to be making all of my place cards. I do cross stitching and so I am going so cross stitch all the guests first names onto fabric then glue it to a place card. I wil have to post a picture of one when I start making them.
• I really want to be DIY but I can't start yet because having things hangning around for a year will seriously blow my OCD mind!
