Getting in Shape

Atkins and stopped losing weight.

I was on weight watchers and I loved it BUT my wedding is so close that I switched to Atkins.  I did it once many years back and it worked great, and faster than weight watchers.

I have been on it for maybe 2 months and for the last 3+ weeks I have lost one pound.  I am watching everything. I am following the food list perfectly. I even dropped back to induction for 3 days. (which is when I lost the last 0.4lbs)

I can't figure out what's going on with me.  I have not started anything different. I am adding more exercise tomorrow.

I didn't even cheat ove the holidays and I have cut out all diet pop for over a week now. (most i had was half a can to a full can each 1-2 days)

Any advice? Anyone go throug this?

I still have about 20lbs to lose to be at my target. (aiming for only several more lbs before the wedding) I'm not so close to the target that I would start losing really slow. After just over 3 weeks I'm getting pretty sad.

Re: Atkins and stopped losing weight.

  • What are your caloric limits though?  Are you eating enough/not enough?

Are you burning any calories through exercise per day?
  • I haven't been counting calories but I stick to lean beef, fish, chicken and lots of veggies. (portion sizes are proper)

Maybe I haven't been eating often enough. I find that I get full so easily now that my meals are small. I'll try eating more meals.
  • No, I have 20lbs more to lose but I'm only aiming to lose several more lbs before the wedding. I won't make my goal but I'm ok with it because I want to get into shape properly.
  • Since you've left WW, they've actually lowered the minimum number of daily points for people who were already at 29. You can now go as low as 26 - maybe try this for a while?

  • Add some fat to your diet. If you aren't getting your energy from carbs it needs to come from somewhere so just put some butter or evoo on your veggies, I bet it will make a difference.
  • Thanks! I won't have any problem adding some fat. :)

I think at some point I will switch back to WW, I just have to do it porperly. (slowly adding back my complex carbs....I don't see a reason to add back the bad stuff)
  • I know you said you went back to induction for 3 days but that might not be long enough. I would try at least a week of starting up induction if not the normal 2. People I know who did the diet long term would do this when they plateaued.
