jlsimon56 and Casino Brides

Hi jlsimons56,

I was hoping you could help me with some advice on a place near the Casino for rehearsel dinner and ceremony locations. The location of your ceremony was beautiful. I am struggling to find the right place. Part of me wants to try to fit my ceremony into the rose garden but I don't think that will work.

I am also struggling to find hotel blocks and locations for the rehearel dinner. I am disappointed NYLO is closed due to flooding and I am not sure when it will reopen and most of Providence is very overpriced the weekend of my wedding because of Brown graduation.

Thanks for any advice!

Haha, my wedding weekend was Parents Weekend at Brown.  Never a dull moment at that school!

Yes, we did the NYLO since it was before the flooding.  I wish they'd update their website with their progress, even if it's to say "we don't know yet".  We did our other room block at the Homewood Suites also in Warwick, since they have 2 bedroom rooms for families.  They were wonderful.  Try looking in Warwick?  It's not far from The Casino.  And cheaper b/c of the airport.

We did our RD at 1149 in NK.  Hmm, is that still NK?  Anyway, it's the first one, the address was 1149 Division St.  It was lovely.  They included a lot, like a menu at each place setting, the centerpieces, etc.  We brought in a cake from Scrumptions, and they were fine with that.  We did open bar there.  My ILs took care of the RD for us.  It was really nice.  We had 25 people and were in the front room.

Our ceremony was at the Old Narragansett Chapel in Wickford.  It dates back to 1707.  My MIL is an Episcopal priest so she arranged everything there, including the organist (it's the oldest working organ east of the Mississippi or something cool).  It's SMALL in there, holds under 100 people.  No heat, no electricity.  We were taking a risk in October.  :-)  It worked out.  The Baptist church in Wickford is nice.  Are you looking for a church or a non-denominational space?

The Rose Garden is pretty small.  Could work though.  Do you not like the gazebo thing down by the water?  Another knottie, Erin, had her ceremony there.  I think her photog was David Bibeault if you want to search his blog?  It looks nice.  We had to have a church ceremony so we didn't consider it.

Could you do a ceremony in the Botanical Garden venue?  If no one has it booked, maybe?  Though I don't know if they would want to book you in it for an hour and miss out on someone else booking it for a reception for 5 hours.........

    Hope this helps.

First of all- Jennifer, your wedding photos are one of the reasons why I booked Melissa Robotti for our wedding at the Casino.  Beautiful!

We are looking at hotels in the Warwick area.  There are too many to name- but if you are looking for something in the same area as NYLO- maybe the Crowne Plaza?

Since our Church and hotel will both be in Warwick, we will probably look in that direction for our rehearsal dinner.  1149 (technically in Warwick) is a great option, as is Meritage or Sienna (both East Greenwich, I believe).  If you're looking to keep the rehearsal dinner in Providence, Waterman Grill has a great private room with a nice view.

Wow, really?  That is so flattering!  We really worked with the colors and the setting of the Casino when deciding on our colors, style, etc.  I think it helped to give everything a nice cohesive look.

We also figured out the time the sun was going to set because we wanted to be taking our formal pics ~1 hour before sunset.  Our ceremony was at 3:30 PM and it worked out perfectly.  I see you are the same weekend in 2011.  So that's something to think about as you're figuring out your timeline.

Melissa is awesome and is only getting more awesome.  We also used Nicole Resendes for our videographer.  She has a FB business page, and just posted our video teasers.  Check that out, if you haven't booked a videographer yet.  We are so glad we did!  We did our formals in the Rose Garden, so nice there.

    Good luck with everything!

    Hi..

I am getting married at the Casino next year.  We are doing our rehersal at Bravo downtown .  We liked that they have a private room, and the prices are reasonable.
Our ceremont is at our church, but I would suggest looking into the botanical gardens as well!  it is so beautiful and unique there!
    good luck!

These rehearsal ideas are really helpful. My fiance's uncle is a congragationel pastor from and we want him to marry us, but he is from Minisotta and does not have a parish around here. I am thinking a non-denominational chapel might work. Any ideas close enough to the Casino?
