Las Vegas Hotels on the Strip

My FI and I have been trying to figure out hotels to stay at while in Las Vegas. We'll be there on Sunday and then go to San Diego in the morning then at the end of the week we'll be back in Las Vegas for one more day on Friday. So we want to stay at two different hotels. So far we've been thinking The Luxor, New York, New York, MGM, Monte Carlo, and Treasure Island. Those were just ones we saw online that looked fun, or friends said they've stayed there and loved them. Any suggestions would be very helpful! Thanks

Re: Las Vegas Hotels on the Strip

  • Those listed are all medium quality hotels, and located near the south of the strip ( other then treasure). I personally enjoy it more staying near the center, so Caesars, mirage, Bellagio, paris, and venetian. Those would be my choices.

  • The only one on that list that I'd be okay staying at for my honeymoon would be MGM, but it's awfully far away from the true center of the strip.  The rest are kind of mid-market and cheesy - they can be really fun, but in more of a "Spring Break getting schwasted with my friends" way than a "honeymoon" way.  I agree with Little that staying closer to the center of the strip would be better.  The Mirage, the Bellagio, the Venetian, and the Cosmopolitan are my favorites there.

  • Out of the hotels you listed, the only one I'd consider staying in is MGM Grand. We stayed there for our 1st trip to Vegas and loved it because of their pool complex. They have several pools and a lazy river which was a lot of fun to hang out in all day.

We also stayed at the Mirage and loved it there as well, as their rooms were nice and we loved the waterfalls in the pools.

When we go to Vegas, we usually pick a hotel by their rooms and their pool areas since you can visit any of the other hotels and use their casinos, eat at their restaurants, drink at their bars, etc.. so your choice should come down to the quality of the room and their pool area since those are exclusive to you staying there.

If you're going for your HM I highly suggest looking into the Palazzo, Wynn, Encore, or the Bellagio. The Mirage and MGM are great choices as well with great pool areas. HTH!
  • For a honeymoon, I would recommend the Cosmo, Aria, Bellagio, Wynn, Encore, Venetian or Palazzo.
  • Thanks for the comments! I really needed more tips and what not :)
  • Also, some of the ones I mentioned were ones ppl from school told me were fun, so its nice having brides who have gone their before give me their input! Thanks

I agree with everything said above.  MGM and Monte Carlo are really just ok.  I wouldn't stay in anything else in that price range.  But, personally, I've stayed at Paris and it was fantastic.

  • The Mandarin Oriental just opened up right in the middle of the strip.  There's no casino or smoking there, so it's a little quiet oasis in Vegas.  They are expensive but I got a great deal on hotels.com.  You can stay at a super nice hotel and then do your gambling, eating out, entertainment etc at any of the strip hotels.
  • also, many of those hotels charge a 20 a night resort fee on top off the room rate. All mgm properties do and all Caesars propreties dont.
  • I've stayed at the Paris and Mandalay Bay.  I liked MB better b/c of the man made beach.  But, if I were going for my honeymoon, I'd spend the extra money and stay at the Bellagio.  It's gorgeous.
  • also look at the site smartervegas.com they have some great promo codes for hotels and shows
  • I'm a huge fan of the Cosmopolitan. You can get a room with a balcony that gives you a direct view of the Bellagio fountains. It's by far my favorite hotel in Vegas.
  • The hotels you listed are fine if you are trying to do Vegas on the cheap, but I agree with PP's that you should splurge for one of the higher end places.  I really enjoy the Venitian, but I've heard the Bellagio, Wynn, Cosmopolitan and the Aria are really nice too (I've walked through all of them, but have only stayed at the Venitian).

  • I would go with Bellagio, Venetian, Mirage, Caesars, Aria, Wynn,or Encore. My all time favorite, but its on the end of the strip, is 'THE hotel at Mandalay Bay'

Luxor, is not nice! Also, I know T.I just got remodeled, but I haven't seen it since.

One more tip, If you get a chance, go to Mandalay Bay, and got to Minus 5. Its a whole ice bar ( tables, seats, bar, cups, walls etc ), really cool experience!

  • We loved the Mirage Tower Deluxe Rooms. I'd ask for the pool view; we were able to see part of the Bellagio fountain and watch the dolphins at the Mirage (especially fun at night).
  • I would also recommend THE Hotel at Mandalay Bay.  Their "standard" rooms are much bigger than most (725 sq ft vs. 500 sq ft).  They have several fantastic signature restaurants.  Their pool/lazy river area is amazing, but they also have an "adult only" pool on the upper level.  It is on the far end of the strip, but we walked all the way down past The Wynn....it is doable.  I would HIGHLY recommend The Beatles "Love" Cirque de Soleil at the Mirage....an amazing show!
