Bridal Shower

I'm full of questions today! :) We're finally thinking about some of the small details. My BFF is insisting on throwing me a bridal shower. I'm not super into it, but she insists on it.

How soon are you guys having a bridal shower? How many people are you planning on inviting? 

My FMIL mentioned wanting to throw one in their hometown as well. I had planned on inviting FMIL and FSIL to my local shower. Do I need to invite my family to the shower in ILs hometown?

    i would ask her how many people she plans to have, and then give her a list around that amount. if you're having two, i'd invite people to the one they live closer to. if they're coming from far away, i'd try to make one be a "friends" shower and one be a "family" shower.

    i think i'm only having one, thrown by my MOH and her mother. it probably won't be until late july/early august. i'm not sure how many people yet as i haven't asked them about it.
    Happily married since 9/1/2012!

    I have no idea about a bridal shower. No one has mentioned anything to me about one. I do know my MOH is planning my bach party already though, because she asked about available dates and who I'd want invited.

    I have tentative ideas of what's going on. From the sounds of what little I know (they ask questions to find out preferences/good dates) I am having a local one for my friends and the members of FI's family that want to come end of July frame.
    I am then having one up north for my family up there early August.

    My FMIL and her sister are throwing me a shower in Maryland (this is where FI and I live and where most of FI's family is from). This one will be a "surprise" and will be in June.

    and my aunt is throwing me one in New Jersey (this is where I grew up and where the wedding will be located). This one will be in July.

    Both sets of hosts have insisted that all female wedding guests be invited to one or the other. So I split up my guest list accordingly!! It's a lot of people,  but at least it's split between two!! Plus a lot lot of my guests are from OOT (Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Georgia, etc. etc.), so I can't imagine that they will make two trips within a few months. They'll probably just save it for the wedding!

    If I have one at all it will be in June on the same day as my bachelorette party and my mom would be hosting.  My B party is 16 people (half in town, half not) and my bridal shower would maybe be 30 people.  I like kelly's idea of a friend and family shower if it is feasible.  If I had that going on, I'd ask my friend for it to be a lingerie shower since I'd rather open that stuff in front of friends and save the tupperware and mixing bowls for your great aunt and grandma!  That's if that suits your personality.  I love lingerie though and would love to have a bunch of new things for the HM without having to buy them all myself!

    I already have dates set LOL Clearly being a "keener" runs in the family.
    I have one on May 6th and one on May 27th. My sister is throwing one in the city before cottage season starts (a lot of our friends/family are cottagers) and then the one in my home town is at the end of May.
    There will be between 40-50 people at each.

    I will have 3 and each hostess has expressed their desire to have it over the summer.  They will all be here at home, but each will have different guests (my family & friends, FI's family & friends, and work).  By coinicidence, I got follow-up requests from 2 of them yesterday about setting a date, so that should be settled in the next week or so.  I am aiming for late May-mid July to have them only because we are having a DW and most every shower guest will be traveling for our wedding and I want to be mindful of their upcoming expenses and not have the showers so close to that time.

    No one has approached me about a bridal shower so I don't even know if I'll get one. Not too worried about it though, TBH.

    My bridesmaids wanted to throw me one but I said no. I'm not a big fan of them and being my second wedding I don't think there is any point.
