Estate Weddings (Venues)

Hello,

I was wondering if anybody on this forum had any experience with Estate Weddings.  We are considering booking our wedding at either the Emma or Valentino estates in Rancho Santa Fe.  However, there are not very many forums or blogs about brides that have done this.

If you have any experience with ANY estate weddings... what are your thoughts?  Was the added flexibility worth the extra money?  Did you end up spending extra?  How was the staff to work with?  Rules & regulations?  Overall thoughts?

We are planning a 200 person event; yet we are trying to make it as intimate as possible despite the head count.

thanks!!

  • I would also love to hear what people are saying about estate weddings especially the two that you are also interested in.  What did the price come to when you had to rent your own seating/tables/etc...  Any info would be helpful!!  thanks:)

I am currently looking for an estate wedding in the SD area and I have been having a terrible time finding one.  I first started by looking at the Emma Estates but it is a total sham! They quoted me close to $20,000 for a 85 person wedding.  The list the $3500.00 on their site to get you to call and then they add on massive fees.  They make you use their own vendors/caterers, you even have to use their valet services so once all of the fees get added in it comes to $20,000 without rentals, linens, etc. AND you have to be done by 10pm.  I have also called on 15+properties that no longer offer wedding because of problems in the past :( I am super bummed out about it but please let me know if you find anything and i'll do the same.  good luck!

I've been in weddings at both Grand Traditions http://www.grandtradition.com/ and Los Willows http://www.loswillows.com Personally I liked Grand Traditions better. My sister got married there in June of 2010, they worked with her budget, and even let her make payments. The food was so delicious and the champagne they get from Wilson Creek is almond, yum! The staff was so nice and everything ran smoothly. My friend also got married there in Sept 2008, beautiful wedding. I suggest checking those out if you haven't already.
  • I looked into Grand Tradition estate and really liked it.  Ended up somewhere else, but that location was a top runner for me.
