Cakes for under $1000

I am looking to get our wedding cakes for under $1,000. I know that the cakeguys.com do a package for under $1,000 but my fiance doesn't like the fact that we have to put a deposit down before we even taste the cake.

So I'm looking for other cheap but yummy cake vendors to look into. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

The cost of your cake is going to depend on how elaborate the decoartions are and the size of your cake. Some vendors are more expensive than others, but none of the quotes I got were over $1000 for 150 people. We went with Hot Chocolates, but we tasted at Texas Star and Sweet Memories also. A lot of girls like Panini and Delicious Cakes.

I went with Texas Star Bakery for both the wedding cake and grooms cake and paid close to $600 for both.

I highly recommend Candy Haven in Denton.  Usually, if you order the wedding cake, they'll throw in the groom's cake free.

I loved Dallas Affaires.  It's higher end but still doable for under $1000.  You don't have to put down a deposit before the tasting.  It was so delicious and beautiful.  I want their chocolate cake so much right now!

I used the Cake Guys and did a full tasting before I paid for the cake.  You only don't get to taste it first if you do the "budget" line of cakes I think.  My cake was wayyy under $1k and I designed it, picked my colors, had rhinestones, ribbon, etc.

Besides, the Cake Guys cakes are fabulous anyway.  You don't have to taste them!  :)

Hi Melissa- I am thinking about using Texas Star for both of our cakes- do you have a picture of your cake you can share with me? Thank you :)

Ours is half that and we are using Colleens Cakes.  I think it's $3.75 a slice and no delivery fee or setup cost.

You can't see the grooms cake too good, if you want you can give me your email and I can send you better pictures.

    One word....PANINI

At least go for a consultation...its free and the owner Sophie makes HUGE portions for the tasting! You have nothing to lose but soo soo much to gain!

I cannot wait for my wedding so I can eat that delicious cake again!

    Just an FYI-

We are doing one of the the Cake Guys packages and I just emailed them and asked if I could buy a tasting plate ( I really didn't mind because I LOVE cake anyway :) )

Anyway I paid $25 for a HUGE plate, and when we signed with them they took the $25 off the total.

It is kinda backwards, I know...  Candy Haven is phenomenal too.  So yummy.

Central Market in FW.  Total cost was about $980.00 for bride  (4 tier) and grooms cake (sheet cake).  I had some distinctive requests regarding design for the cakes and was very pleased.  Tasted good too.

We're using Radford Cakery in Richardson. It was about $600 for my cake. We're doing a chocolate fountain instead of a groom's cake.

Another vote for Panini's!  We're not doing a groom's cake but the bride's cake which serves 120 is a little under $500 with delivery.

Panini's- our cakes were so delicious. Free tastings. You can also stop in and buy from by the slice if you aren't up for a tasting yet.

I like that the cake guys took off the money you spent on a taste plate...that's "good" points for them...and my fiance thinks so too...

Panini's cakes look awesome...are they expensive...I don't need many towers of cake :) Bride and groom's cakes needed!

Thanks ladies, you all  have been helpful!

We didn't go with Panini's, but it was our 2nd choice.  We got a quote for about $800 (total) for a wedding cake to serve 150 and a groom's cake to serve 95.  And the tasting was yummy!
