Too Burned out for a Work out . . .where and how to start?

Just got a new job and work 65 miles away between 3pm til 1130pm. By the time I get home it's study time, meal time then sleep time. I can make time on my days off to work out at least but I am so exhausted, I am having difficulty just tying my laces. With 413 days until the BIG DAY, I don't want to wait it out any longer. How can I get the most out of my workout for the small time I do have?

Any advice will help lots. Thanks!

My suggestion would be to start small, and leave behind the excuses.  Aim for 20 minutes a day of ANYTHING physical, and when that becomes routine, make it 25, then 30.  As you increase time (at a comfortable pace), start increasing workout intensity as well.  It sounds like, given your schedule, working out when you wake up would be ideal, that way you can't make excuses when you get home and are too tired.

  • So I was really burned out as well....  my FI suggested that we start running on a more regular basis out side and train for a 5k.... It takes up maybe 20 -30 minutes at most now!! If you aren't a runner it will take some getting use too but I found that setting mini goals for myself worked amazingly!! For example.... last night I ran about 5 blocks farther than normal to wear we have to turn onto our street. I found this to be much more useful than trying to do it by the amount of time ran. I just found myself getting exhausted by the counting alone and always stopped early. Just my thoughts.. I've lost 10lbs in a week and a half purely by running.
  • Don't forget the small things you can do every day... instead of trying to find the closest parking spot, find the one furtherest away... take the stairs instead of the elevator/escalator...
