Should I have use this caterer at Clubhouse on Baltimore?

I'm really looking at the Tudor Room at The Clubhouse on Baltimore. First of all, has anyone had their reception there, or is anyone looking at having it there? From what I've seen online (going to view it today), it looks very nice. I'm having 250-300 people, so I had to find something big enough; this is the only room there that will fit everyone.

Secondly, to try to keep costs down, I'm really trying to find caterers that are affordable (no pun intended with Affordable Catering). I was looking at Jack Stack BBQ for reception food. It's like $9pp, and includes a couple types of meat, their delicious baked beans, cole slaw, and potato salad, along with bread, condiments, etc.

Do you guys think that this place is too upscale/grand/fancy/whatever for the type of food I'm looking at? I honestly don't care, but that's the type of person I am. If anyone has input or opinions, puhleeeease feel free to fill me in!

Thanks!

That's where we're having our reception!  Ours isn't until October 2nd so we haven't started looking at the catering options yet.  One of my friends from college had her reception there last summer and used Bonterra Catering.  The way TCOB works is that everything is included in a package (catering, DJ, set-up & breakdown, non-floral centerpiece options) except cake and floral.  There's a list of "approved caterers" to choose from and I'm not sure if Jackstack is on it.  As for my own experience, when I walked into the tudor room I almost laid an egg.  It is SO gorgeous!!!!!!  Lori is who we've been working with and she's so fantastic, always gets back to me within a day or two and answers all my crazy questions.  Our wedding is going to be a traditional, formal type of wedding so we'll probably go with Bonterra but I think incorporating some KC flavor into your wedding sounds fantastic.  Go for it, its your wedding!  Have fun viewing the venue!Laughing

Not sure if you've actually looked into Jack Stack, but we were seriously considering them and they were definitely not $9pp. After all was said and done, we were looking at over $30pp. Make sure to read their stuff carefully, because they pretty much include nothing, and they were not willing to negotiate. IMHO, it'd be best to avoid them. They were not pleasant to deal with and they will try to suck every cent out of you that they can. And yes, I was nothing but pleasant when dealing with them (I majored in hotel/restaurant management, so I know what they go through and always try to be nice to restaurateurs - but if you're going to miss out on my business over $2.50 PER SODA, NO REFILLS then you're not worth bothering with).

Yeah, unfortunately I found out exactly what you're talking about. The pp price only includes one caterer (my large group would need two), doesn't include any busboy fees ($35/busboy/hour, my group would supposedly need 6-8), and the ever-famous linens. I was pretty grump/distraught when I left that meeting.

I need to figure out a cheap caterer that makes it worth using an outside caterer for the Clubhouse! Or,I just need to conveniently come across 5 grand or so! Ha.

I'm using Brancato's catering. They only charge $10 per person and have a lot of the same things you were just describing with Jack Stack. The food was amazing as well! Good luck!

I've attended a wedding/reception at the Clubhouse on Baltimore and my friend used Kansas City Catering - they were really good and pretty inexpensive and I would think they could make some of the BBQ items you are looking for.

    Good Luck!
