Vendor RAVE (Long)

I got married on March 20th and I can not say enough about my vendors.  Everyone was professional and on time.  The day ran smoothly and everything was exactly as I had asked.  I got compliments on everything from the cake, to the fod, to the DJ.
Hotel Monaco (DC) (Venue) - The Hotel Monaco staff were so friendly and accomondating.  The front desk, the servers, the bartenders all contributed to a perfect evening.  Buddee Clinton at the hotel was easy to work with and a reasonable negotiator.  The room was decorated perfectly and the food phenomenal.  On top of all of that, every hotel guest was left a note on their pillow that a bride and groom would be there and that they should wish us well.  As we took pictures we were stopped as people waved and wished us congratulations.  It really made us feel important.
Holy Rosary Catholic Church (Ceremony) - This is a beautiful church located in Penn Quarter very close to the hotel.  The church will marry you if you aren't a DC resident.  They are so friendly it makes you want to be a regular member.
Petal's Edge Florist - Rebecca Henry was amazing.  She worked within my budget and delivered gorgeous flowers.  I was afraid for what we paid we would get a lot of greenery but the flowers were stunning and the bouquets were ALL FLOWERS!  We definitely got our moneys worth and we loved the centerpieces, bouquets, boutineers!  Rebecca and her staff did an amazing job.
Roman Grinev Photography - Thomas with Roman's studio was so much fun to work with.  He posts pictures on the company's blog and I am thrilled to see what other shots he got.  www.romanphotography.com/blog. They are amazing.
Amphora Bakery - I didn't care too much about the cake and didn't want to spend too much so we looked for places where we could get what we wanted for about $4.50/slice.  This place was so reasonably priced we were thrilled.  But then the guests commented on how good the cake tasted and I was blown away.  Some said it was the best they ever tasted (we didn't really get to taste any).  They also died fondant perfectly to match the bridesmaids dresses and I had been unable to find any ribbon to match so I was very impressed at the die job.  I was worried it would come out a different shade of green than the dresses but it was a perfect match!
Black Tie DJ (Brad) - Black Tie has a detailed online planning form that helps you get and stay organized and helps them pick the DJ to best serve your event.  It also lets the DJ know what mix of music he should play.  I had guests stop me on the dance floor and ask for the set list.  Brad played exactly what we wanted and none of the songs we didn't!
Wildflower Makeup - Angela Perez with Wildflower make up came to me to do my makeup.  It was perfect and exactly what I wanted.  She brought a camera and took pictures of me as she did it so that I could see what I would look like in the photographs that day.  She also helped my mom with her make up last minute and didn't charge me!  On top of all of that I didn't need a touchup at all!  My make up stayed in place all night, even after I sobbed during the father/daughter dance.
District Chop House (Rehearsal) - We did a buffet at the Chop house in a private room and it was amazing.  Everyone loved the food, we had complete privacy and we were free to get up in the middle of dinner and talk with our friends without disturbing other patrons.  Plus they made the process painless and easy, and best of all - AFFORDABLE!  I highly recommend them.

If I missed anyone, I'm sorry and I will try to leave supplemental feedback!  I hope this helps other brides!  I know how invaluable vendor recommendations were to me as I planned my wedding.  Best of luck to you all!

Congratulations! I am so happy that things went well.  Thank you for the rehearsal dinner rave.  We are actively looking for a place.

Do you mind sharing details about Petal's Edge?  I have a consultation set up with them next Monday.  You said you were concerned with what they could do for your budget.  Would you share what your budget was and what you got for it?  THANKS!

Sorry this took so long!  I hope I caught you before your appointment!

We spent between about $3,000.  For that we got 1 tall centerpiece which was WELL worth the money, 14 short centerpieces, 3 corsages, 9 boutineres, 7 bridesmaids bouquets, 1 bridal bouquet, cake flowers, 2 alter centerpieces, and a small ceremonial bouquet left at the church.

Their prices are online and we were on the low end of the rang.  So low centerpieces were about $75 each, the tall one was $150.  In the first quote we had flowers on the pews and cake flowers that cascaded down the cake.  Rebecca was great at explaining to us where we could cut flowers to fit within the budget which was ultimately cutting the pew flowers and changing the flower design on the cake.  We also discussed changing flowers for cheaper flowers but that really didn't change the prices much since we were already on the low end of her price ranges.  What I was happy with was how many flowers were in each centerpiece and bouquet.  She didn't fill it with greenery at all.  The centerpieces were exactly as we planned and everything was lush and gorgeous.  We even had cherry blossoms in the tall centerpiece but the wedding was a week before they were supposed to bloom.  We expected a few sticks in a vase but instead we got full blooming cherry blossoms.  Even my husband commented that it looked amazing.

I hope this helps!  I really did love working with them.  They made everything so easy and everything was done perfectly!

    Good luck!

One more thing.  If you go to the photogropher's blog you can see the cake flowers, the bridesmaid's flowers and my flowers in the pictures.
