St. Louis and Illinois Brides Okay?

Terrible weather in the St. Louis area - Hermann, St. Louis, and counties in Illinois - tornados in the city and at the airport for the first time maybe ever. Airport closed, and no one is sure when it will reopen since reports are that 50% of the windows in the main terminal were blown out!

We're still looking at a line coming through down here south of St. Louis...

Thank God so far no one has been reported hurt or killed...

Hope all our St. Louis area brides and brides-to-be are okay?

I heard about that last night over on E in the evening thread. There are quite a few girls that either live there or are originally from the area. Scary stuff. There has been bad weather and fires all around the country. I will definitely keep those people in my prayers.

When I was a little girl, I remember folks talking about the Good Friday tornados in Indiana. These look to have been just as devastating...

    *Waves*

I had a bit of a freakout moment while watching CNN this morning since we have so many people flying to STL this week (we're driving), but the airport officials seemed pretty optimistic that they'd be back at 100% capacity by mid-week.

My parents' house and my venues are fine.

But I'm definitely praying for all those who weren't so lucky.

I didn't have to play the liturgy last night so I went to a church closer to my house and everyone was in the basement (I got there late).

My friend is a music director at another church, and the sirens went off when they ended the Gospel, so they brought everyone into the hallway... they did the prayers there, then brought the cross down the hallway for everyone to venerate.

Oh yea...and my pastor got an interesting call today. A guy who was in St. Louis this weekend was expected to fly out today and get confirmed tonight in Dallas. Obviously, he's not leaving, so he may get confirmed tonight at our parish (this is after phone calls to the vicar general and the archbishop here).

A lady on another board said the hail was horrific!

I told her to get under the kitchen table.  Isn't that what they do on TV?

I think under the table is for earthquakes so nothing falls on your head. For tornados, it's important to get away from windows and go to the basement or cellar if you have one. Glad to hear everyone is ok

We survived the tornados, but now we're contending with massive rain and flooding. The water from our nearby lake is nowhere near our house (fortunately we are at the top of a very tall hill), but it is creeping rapidly toward our intended venue for the reception. Not sure how things are going to work out!
